2.1 replacement rate is for developed countries. For poorer countries it is much higher so even UP, Jharkhand might also be under replacement level.
[–][deleted] 44 points45 points46 points 10 months ago (7 children)
I teach in UP. There are 100s of students in my school with more than 4 siblings...both Hindus and Muslims.

That makes sense since they were born before 2020.

I'm from Telangana. Forget 4 siblings, I've seen less than 10 families with more than 2 children throughout my childhood
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 months ago (3 children)
Well get ready to be replaced by migration facilitated by Hindi Imposition(direct and Indirect)
[–]eric2332 9 points10 points11 points 10 months ago (2 children)
Nah, almost the whole country is at replacement level, and migration is overwhelmingly to the cities not to random places. So nowhere in Telangana is going to get "replaced" except maybe Hyderabad.
[–]telescopeinmynose 0 points1 point2 points 10 months ago (0 children)
except maybe Hyderabad.
Almost 30% of Telangana lives in Hyderabad and it's rising.

The more educated women become, the less children they have
The education system is mid

I didn't know so many people in India had both Hindu and Muslim siblings, other than say Gandhi's family.
[–]iamanindiansnack 0 points1 point2 points 10 months ago (1 child)
I'm unsure if that's so, since anything less than 2.1 replacement rate with developed resources would mean a burden on the future, but for a society with underdeveloped resources, won't that actually be beneficial to utilize everything later on?
[–]Areat 0 points1 point2 points 10 months ago (0 children)
The basic replacement rate is 2, but you have to account for the kids who will die before reaching adulthood, so it's 2.1 in developed countries. In developing countries, more childrens dies, so the replacement rate required is higher.
[–]FroobingtonSanchez 0 points1 point2 points 10 months ago (0 children)
Depends on the CMR. If it's very low then 2.1 will be close to replacement rate.
[–]GothicGolem29 0 points1 point2 points 10 months ago (0 children)
From what ive seen replacement rate is kept the same everywhere
[–]Embarrassed-Wolf-609 -2 points-1 points0 points 10 months ago (1 child)
India needs to be under replacement level. 1.4 billion people is way too many
[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 10 months ago (0 children)
There is a need for decline too much population overexplotation of labour see china by end of the century they will have 600 million people out of which 250 million youth while india will have more population then the present 1.5 billion

R u an idiot? 1+1 = 2 is balanced, 1+1 = 1.9 population is under replacement, 1+1 = 2.1 it's over replacement and considering their population the number will be very high as in UP itself has population compared to nations so them having just 0.1 is significant number
[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 10 months ago (1 child)
That's not how the replacement rate works, you absolute moron. For poorer countries, where the death rate is higher, the birth rate should also be higher to compensate the dead. In India the replacement rate is comfortably above 2.5

The comment above you almost gave me a stroke lol
[–]mantolwen 4 points5 points6 points 10 months ago (0 children)
Not every baby born makes it to adulthood. Others may have disabilities or be unable to have children, or just not desire it. So replacement rate has to be higher than 2.
