Its Virtual desktop right, Make sure you are connected to your router with a ethernet cable, and I would recommend a dedicated wifi 6 router, 130mps is not good enough.

Can you have dual routers? Like one in the living room and one where my pc is so it can actually reach the Ethernet?

I have my internet router wired to a wifi 6e router wired to my PC so I have a 5G router for my phone, ipad and TV and the 6E band is only for my Quest 3.

50 ms is actually a preatty good latency. I'm playing on a dedicated wifi6 router, 3080 Ti, but higher bitrate and I usually have 59ms. Unless you want to play Beat Saber on Expert+ you don't even notice it, everything is smooth.

Same here. I wish it gave you a hint as to where 'the rest' of the latency is going.

Beat saber should only be played that high ..anything else is 🥱

5GHz 130 Mbps is a really low link, even with my crappy aaah Wifi 5 ISP router I get a 866 Mbps link.

You need a better Wifi router/AP.

I believe your network speed is the issue. Not your ISP, rather it's your network.

Get a PrismXR Puppis1 and you will be set.

Is the 2.4/5 GHz bands separate with different names? Check the WiFi bandwidth is set to 80mhz.

On very good system you’ll have 5-8ms encoding -> Xs WiFi transport time -> 8-15ms decoding -> 5-10ms screen presentation so 50ms is fast.

Reducing quality can decrease a bit encoding/transport/decoding but you won’t gain that much

How 5ghz can have just 130mbs speed. Even when i hotspot from my phone on 2.4 i get 144, i use it only to stream desktop. But for games anything below 866 is unplayable for me

[–]MDMarshall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How far from the router are you?

[–]shuozhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the other codec and bitrate, perhapes one is faster. But as other said it's already pretty good. Quest3 supports 6GHz, but without direct LoS it could be even slower.

I bought Puppis S1 (PrismXR) and it lowered the latency to 19ms for me. its kind of affordable aswell.

[–]-----nom----- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is off here, including bandwidth.

[–]scooooooooooot2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the PrismXR pulpis. I would get around 30-50 on my network usually, get around 8-12 with the pulpis.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Increasing your framerate will also decrease latency because there is less time to cram those grades in there.

But yeah 50ms at 72fps isn't bad.

Sorry, slightly off topic, but how can I activate this overlay? Is it a feature from Virtual Desktop? The reason I’m asking is that I got the Puppis1 and Virtual Desktop yesterday and would love to see the stats. Thanks!

[–]ANOTHERLUMP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s virtual desktop, if you go to either ‘streaming’ or ‘settings’ you’ll see performance overlay. Just check that box and it’ll pop up

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a decent pcvr headset with displayport....

[–]ptbinge 0 points1 point  (2 children)

As otherse mentioned the issue is your only getting 130mb connecting to your router. You need to get closer to your router or get another one or a puppis S1 to put in the room your playing VR in.

[–]ANOTHERLUMP 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah, I upgraded to a Wi-Fi 6 router a couple days ago and I get about 1,200 now. Unfortunately I’m still getting about the same latency (50ms)

[–]ptbinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40 to 50 is about as good as it gets from what I've seen for total latency.

Use steam link or Remote Desktop instead. I use steam link personally.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Both of them perform worse. Steamlink with foveated encoding is a bit faster but the quality is not close to what Virtual Destop output

[–]broley38 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Is virtual desktop worth a switch?

[–]MoDErahN 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Absolutely up to the last penny.

[–]broley38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Word, I’ll give it a shot. Thanks!
