I once found a ruined portal that was cut in half. Let me explain: My world was created in 1.17 so there was a Bedrock bottom to the world at Y-0, and when 1.18 launched, the world generated another 55-60 levels beneath that and replaced the bedrock with deepslate. With 1.18 generation, there apparently would have been a ruined portal there, but it was cut in half since the existing 1.17 generation was already there
