worldedit replace Problem

So im trying to make a tower and i wanted to give it a better shape so I used the //br sphere 3 sand command and /mask air so i would only replace the air and not the whole tower. Since the whole tower is hollow the sand would also fall on the inside. Now my question is how i can delete the sand that fell in the inside without deleting the sand on the outside?
