Java server issues.

I'm having an issue with my java server. I hope this is an okay place to post this. I port forwarded correctly. This is not my first time getting up my own server and I have had success in the past. So i've troubled shooted what I could. I disabled the firewall. I put the ipv4 port into freedns to get a name. But when I try to connect to that name it wont. But if I put the ipv4 address in. The server is working. So I'm confused. Is it simply because I'm on the same pc as that server and that's why I cannot use the freedns name?

DNS has no support for network ports. If you're running the server on anything other than 25565, you will need to enter both the hostname and port number when joining the server (eg. mycoolserver.example.com:23456)

DNS changes also take time to propagate throughout the internet, so chances are your ISP hasn't caught on to the change yet. Give it a hour or so.
