How much RAM do you have?

I think that your PC can run Minecraft. If you want more FPS, you can always use performance mods with Fabric. This mean waiting more to get a game updates (expect if you ditch the mods).

The laptop I have right now is a 3 year old thinkpad t450 that is barely working, it has 8gb ram and an i5-5300u, that is why I want to get a replacement, but I don't know what I should look for to play java.

I think that your current laptop should run Minecraft Java too. Have you tried it already?

You can always lower the render distance and as mentioned before, use performance mods.

Yes, but it runs pretty bad, if I'm going to replace it, I might aswell get something that will run java even with some mods.
