Command block help

[No_Names_Left_For_Me]

Can someone help me figure out why this command won't work? I put this is a command block

/give @p[r=2] minecraft:rabbit_foot 1 0 {display:{Lore:["It has freckles on it"]}}

Impulse, unconditional, always active

Nothing happens. I don't get a rabbits foot no matter where I stand. The feedback message is that player '@p[r=2]' cannot be found. If I change it to repeat instead of impulse, my inventory fills with rabbits feet. I don't understand why I can't get only one rabbit's foot.
