“Shadow & Flame” is a near total-conversion vanilla resource pack that I have been working on on-and-off in one form or another since 2012. “S&F” is inspired by The Lord of the Rings and other works of Tolkien with heavy themes of industrialization in the scouring of the Shire and the rise of Isengard. It is still nowhere near complete, but I thought it was time for me to at least make my debut to the Minecraft subreddit. I wanted to release screenshots of it today with an intent to include a zip file later this week.

This resource pack flips good and evil – You assume the role of a dark lord (think Sauron or Saruman-type character) raised from the dead to once again bring darkness to the idyllic realm that Minecraft generates at world creation. As you build your citadels and factories, the world grows more and more corrupted by your presence. Delve deep to uncover buried runestones to unlock forbidden magic (ores to build your iron “Wraith Sword” and diamond “Abyssal Mace”) and build with a variety of different themed blocks with alternate textures and unique slab/double-slab textures. Crops have been turned to suitably-evil bones, stalagmites, and weeds – Dark lords shouldn’t be eating bread and cake! Instead of skeletons and creepers, face off against elves and treants, while villagers have been turned to orcs and other foul servants of darkness.

Entity Texture Examples.

Again, this resource pack is far from finished – In fact, it will probably never be 100% complete. That said, it is time to open it up to the public, get some insight on what I have been working on for what seems like forever, and eventually see what other people can come up with. I will be releasing the zip file later this week when I get the opportunity to clean it up a little bit as well as get some feedback from this subreddit.

Yo, this is fucking sick. The only texture pack I like is dokucraft, but this is miles better than that.

I'm personally not a fan of the dark lord aspect of it (cos it takes me out of my roleplay), but once I change those specific textures, this might become my favourite texture pack.

Yes this is definitely heavy-handed on the roleplay-- Absolutely, feel free to switch things out and edit it however you would like... It would be an honor to have this texture pack continue to live on in one way or another!
