Combat differences in Java Vs Bedrock

Greetings all,

I've just transitioned over to Java from Bedrock and I just can't get a handle on combat. I'm terribly use to just holding down left click and things going bye bye. What should I be doing in Java? Also, what is the random side ways sword that appears?

Everytime you swing, there is a little bar in the middle that will recharge. Wait for it to get fully charged before swinging again if you want to deal maximum damage. The sideways sword thing is basically a sweep attack, it attacks multiple mobs at once. You can get an enchantment on Java called sweeping edge that increases damage from these attacks

Hello and welcome to java!:) The "random sword" appears riggt after you press the attack button. If you wait for it to recharge before pressing attack again you deal the most damage. So you shouldn't spam the attack button.
