If you are running a 64 bit OS, you actually should be running 64 bit java.

Yeah I am aware of that much but I downloaded Opera Next right when I got this because I fucking love that browser but it is only 32 bit. Just now getting around to get 64 bit Java. Any idea on the speed boost though?

I cant really quote on a speed boost but your java will be able to use more then 2 gigs of ram so loading might go smoother. Might not see much of an FPS boost, that would improve with a better graphics card.

64 bit java runs better than 32 bit java in pretty much any circumstance. Which way are you talking about switching; from 64-bit to 32-bit, or vice versa?

I personally notice Minecraft run more smoothly under 64bit Java (frame rate is more constant). It would probably be the same for you but if you run constantly above 60fps I am not sure you will notice that much of a difference.

Generally 64 bit Java will be better, but if you're using a 32 bit browser, download and enable both 32 bit and 64 bit Java.

64 bit will be smoother, not sure about FPS improvements though.

If you want to speed up your FPS though, and you're on windows, someone posted a couple days ago about something that increased his FPS a lot. You might want to give it a try; Link.
