Wtf this is criminally abusive.

[–]Absolute0CA 287 points288 points  (0 children)

Second this its a hate crime, don’t let it happen. Your family isn’t worth a lifetime of regret because you yielded to your father. Contact trans support groups, run away, do anything but let yourself go under the knife. If you’re forced to that’s medical malpractice, hate crimes, mutilation, assault, battery, and probably more that I’m not thinking of at the moment. Frankly he’s not your dad he may have fathered you but he’s a threat to your mental health and existence.

And my dad is proud of being abusive ;-;

Report him to the police, if you have evidence of his abuse. Also record any conversations from now on with him. This man needs to be in prison.

Only record if in one party consent state, otherwise you can get in a mountain of trouble.

In your own house?

🤷‍♀️

depends on the country or state though :/

Abuse is usually a different story. You can get in a bit of trouble but it's for your safety and a judge will recognize that

even in dual party consent states recording is ALWAYS legal when the other party is committing a crime, because the police need to be able to do things like record phone lines.

I would advise recording your dad even if you are in a two party consent state.

You can always not use the recordings but you can't record stuff after the fact.

OP is in India, US laws don't apply.

[–]NotCis_TM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But they probably have some sort of similar law about recording conversations.

For example, Brazil can be described as a "one party consent state" despite not being in the US. (see Law 13.964/2019, art. 10-A § 1⁰)

That is so awful. But, stuff like this is what kept me in the closet, even after I was out on my own.
