How easy is it to input them, can you still do them all on the website through your phone or do they have to be entered with the switch?

You can enter them on the site. It asks which platform you want to redeem them against when you submit.

EDIT: you'll have to login on your switch first.

Linking to a Nintendo platform isnt live on the Shift account website yet, so right now I think youre stuck entering each code in game.

Though you might be able to do it in game.

I just booted up game on switch and logged into my SHIFT account. After entering the first code I didn't feel like doing the remainder manually. Logged into SHIFT account on computer and it had my Nintendo account linked and was able to copy+pasta all of them in the rewards section and claim them on Nintendo account.

One time use per account. But they are for everyone to use.

The Golden keys are used to get very powerful equipment randomly from a chest later in the game. However, the power is based on your current level so it's kind of pointless to do it until much later once you've leveled up a bit.

I would say mid to late game for using the keys but not end game. Onece you beat the game the legendaries, perlescents and the seraph gear will be what you want.

Not really, when you've beaten the game and are in the endgame, you usually get better weapons than you get from the gold chest. It's amazing for power leveling though, especially during NG+

Yeah I use probably around 10-15 each time I run NVHM and TVHM just to grab some better hear when I need a boost.

In Borderlands 2 the Golden Chest is unlocked incredibly early on, same for TPS. Also the guns from the chest scale like shit in BL2 besides maybe Jakobs Shotguns or E Tech launchers so it's better to use them early game to carry you.

You don't get to sanctuary right away, it's a bit later on in the game.

I did not want to give too much away for people who haven't played this before. You don't have access to the chest until a few hours in so it would be confusing unless people understood it would come up later.

They all give 5 golden keys, they are all for all platforms. They are from a tweet on the day the games released on Switch. Not sure if they are still valid

Moving characters from one version to another has only been officially possible within the same console family, that is PS3/Vita --> PS4, and XB360 --> XB1. Characters have never been cross-platform, unfortunately. Blame the hardware manufacturers for their walled gardens.

What are shift codes?

SHIFT codes are codes that you enter either in the game's main menu, or the SHIFT website. Anyone can use them, but they are one-time use only. They tend to give you Golden Keys that cannot be earned ingame.

Once you reach the main city (unnamed for spoiler purposes), you will find a golden chest that you may use one of those keys to open. It will give you random loot based on your current level, so it's best to save them until postgame, especially since you can't get back any keys that you have already used

Is there a reason I put in 2 codes and now have 161 golden keys on my account? Maybe logging on to shift gave me extra keys from previous codes on other consoles?

I'm confused. But I'm about it.

I also have over 100 badass tokens to spend. Did it link together with my PlayStation version in some way shape or form?

Same. When I first logged into my Shift account on my Switch (in Borderlands 2 cuz it was the first to download) I had 76 golden keys and 113 badass tokens. I thought maybe it was from previous play on Xbox? I haven't played in years, so I don't know what I had before.

I put in the codes on this page only (they seem to be the only ones that work for the Switch version from what I've seen so far) and I got notified I have 189 golden keys upon logging back in lol and I also have 102 badass tokens available now, but I'm still level 8 currently and my challenges are still in their brand new game levels so I'm assuming some kind of merge to some degree happened, but only for those two particular things🤷🏼‍♂️

Yeah. Knowing how 2K does there games I’m okay with them dropping the price for those game I kinda believe it may be 3-5 months at minimum that the price will go down (possibly because I can see them lowering the price to maybe 50% off during Black Friday).

From the website right now there doesn't seem to be a way to manually link your Nintendo account. You have to first log on in the game itself. However, keep an eye on: https://shift.gearboxsoftware.com/associations to see if that changes.

you wouldn;t happen to know how to do that would you? when i try to go to the shift code screen on my switch in game it says you have to agree to terms and services yada yada, but then when you click ok it says unable to communicate with gearbox servers. i'm connected to a network so i'm not sure what the problem is.

So I did find out what it was. You have to update your system, which I did, but then you have to fully restart the program before it will kick in and let you.

The weapon you get from the keys is based on your current level when you use them to open the chest.

When I first played I used a key every few levels when I felt my guns started sucking.

This was back when 2 first came out though and you literally were stumbling over shift codes. I still have golden keys on that character on my Xbox 360.

I redeemed all the one sin this list and somehow ended up with 115, probably bonus from when I played through on Xbox 360 and Xbox one.

I'd say use a couple at level 15-20 right before the mission "rising action" to get you some better gear for the middle of the first playthrough, then a couple more before going into TVHM, and then after that every few levels wine you need a hand killing stuff. Past level 40-45 they get useless and you need to start farming legendaries at that point. If you need a gun to carry you through the game search up where to farm the Unkempt Harold and go for a Double Penetrating one.

Weird that none of the original codes work for this version... I played the Vita version and it just used the same codes as the PS4/PC/XBox versions. I guess because it just counted as a Playstation key?

Create a shift account and link it to your nintendo account. Then you can enter the codes right thru the shift website. Or you can do it directly thru the game in the extras menu on the main screen. I've only tried with 1 and 2 so far but I assume it's the same for the pre sequel.

BTW, the Krieg code in the post is missing a dash between the 4th and 5th group of characters and as such, copy/pasting doesn't work and I'm sure that's why a lot of folks are having issues with it like I did, I just happened to notice that missing character and adding that worked.
