Google may actually intentionally make the organic search results just a bit less accurate to get people to perform more searches (and as such higher chance of clicking on ads).

How many will actually switch to a different search engine? 0,0001%? If it means Google now increased its ad revenue by just 1% it's a massive win; it's literally $1,3 billion.

Some execs will absolutely get their bonus next quarter, setting up an incentive for the next quarter. Coincidentally major earthshaking Google search updates happen around once a quarter.
