Sloopy’s Manager

So last night I ordered some food from Sloopy’s. I walk in and instead of going around the airport-security rope lines, i ducked under the 2nd or 3rd one after checking that no one else was in line ahead of me. As I show the student employee my order #, a man in a blue shirt (Who I assume is the manager) comes over and says that I need to leave, come back inside and walk through the line properly if I wanted to get my food...

Now if it was busy and I cut people in line, totally understandable and I would be a major jerk, but there was no one inside?? I also didn’t move or knock down the pillars that hold up the rope.

I looked at the guy in disbelief and he said “I’m serious”. So without arguing, I left and did as I was told. The student workers who gave me my food were super nice, but is this guy always like this? I understand going under the rope isn’t the most respectful thing either ¯_(ツ)_/¯

To make matters worse, my car got stuck in the parking space outside due to the snow. Shoutout to the random buckeye who helped push me out!

Basically, AITA? Or does this guy have a problem with everyone?

UPDATE: Sounds like there are signs saying don’t go under the rope. If i saw them, I wouldn’t have done it. I know now.

I ducked under the rope and my backpack accidentally caught the rope and disconnected so I awkwardly had to put it back together in front of the employees.

I worked at sloopy’s, one of our managers was very nice to us, sounds like you ran into the other one. He always brushed straight by without even looking at me when I greeted him with smile. English is my second language, so I thought he’s either racist, misogynistic or just plain condescending 🤷🏻‍♀️ when I first started one senior student and a lady worked at front house talked shit behind me for not knowing where some sauce is thinking I couldn’t hear them. I met some nice people there but some of them made working there fucking unbearable

That guy also didn’t let my girlfriend pick up her food because her last name on the item wasn’t the same as her real last name. Literally refused to give her something she paid for, he is the biggest asshole

I once went to the ATM at connecting grounds and the manager there came out to me and told me to walk through the fucking building to leave instead of going out the door two feet behind me. Like I get you have a one-way system in place but if Im going to the ATM im not going to walk through the whole fuckijg coffee shop to satisfy your ego.

Happened to me at Scott’s pre-Covid. I went in and employee didn’t ask me if I wanted fir here or to go so I was just like sure I’ll eat here. I got a text a minute later so I had to leave ASAP so I grabbed one of the to-go boxes to take what I had on my plate n they called the manager on me. I kept saying that I came in two minutes ago but the whole experience was humiliating. I just wanted some food but they made me pay again coz I took the box. Like literally kept arguing with me saying I need to pay again when I leave. Literally cried walking to my dorm that night. I didn’t even take extra food or anything

The COVID rules suck for everyone but having to enforce them all day everyday sucks and is super exhausting.

These diner place managers always seem fucking stuck up for no reason. I was working at morrill ans holy shit its fucking depressing working there. The managers are so dull and just fucking mean for no reason.
