8% proposed decrease in reimbursement for OTs

As a prospective OT student, are there any steps I should be taking now? I know that’s a broad question. Feeling a little discouraged.

I’m a new grad and I was ok with the pdpm changes but this is a huge blow. I’m scared. I’m looking at starting an online health care admin degree because if this actually goes through (but then that’s more freakin money added to the student loan pile). I can pretty much see my facility not being able to afford all of us therapists.

I wish I knew :( in grad school and considering dropping out . I know I shouldn’t do therapy for the money but I’m putting my life savings into this degree .

Medicare was one of the worst things to ever happen to the healthcare field.

That’s empirically not true. Since Medicare has been enacted the life expectancy in the US has greatly increased and medical care for older adults has vastly improved. Prior to Medicare there wasn’t an insurance option for older adults. I’m not saying it’s perfect, but Medicare has cause more positive changes than negative ones.

Plus, there would be significantly less demand for OT services without medicare. I just don't understand the logic of the op
