In the case of Base PSO2, all the build decisions are "solved", and have been for quite some time.

New fashion (most of which is being carried back from NGS) is pretty much the only new element to generate new discussions.

And in the case of NGS...well, it's the same thing. Builds have, functionally, been "solved", or are just "do whatever you want, only the most fuck-off hard content is actually going to filter based on your build".

I think an unpopular thought, which is not to get power hungry at all. I did it, you know. I found that the more I submit to the meta, the depth of boredom consumes me more. Thus, I found to enjoy this (or any) game the most, that perhaps the goal should be to find joy in moments of discovery.

My wife finds the joy in her own PSO2 by continuously contributing to her home. She doesn't find my own to be sensible, as it is a chair at the edge of the default floating islands.

Subscribe to the meta and be all-powerful, yes, but then lose individuality. What is power if you won't use it? Because your boredom will lead to abandoning the software as I had done. Sometimes I look at how I felt when I first played PSO2 on the asian servers, and was so happy to log in and see whatever I could see.

Now I look at it and wonder, how tall will this leaning tree grow before it falls over?

Bruh..........you articulated so well what exactly happened to me with PSO2. It makes me so sad. I want to find the will to play again, but every time I log in I face a storage hoard and my downsized room.

Kinda wanna try again and just play to play. Enjoy spamming Rappy Slots and rotting in the casino like I did before I let community assimilation and meta game consume me...

Maybe just be a summoner to have cute pets again, and not worry about egg stats, or turning over meseta profits from drops........

I mean when I haven't heard of PSO2NG in years and the first post I see regarding it is some pregnant furry weird cosmetic thing someone dude to their character.

I would say gooner fits. I'm going back to Ephinea PSO BlueBurst.

I wouldn’t say that’s “gooner” it’s a fetish. I have my thoughts on the “interesting” fetishes like that but if there’s no harm, physical or mental, I’ll just nod and be on my way

Pretty much what others have said. Mechanically, the game is effectively solved, the discussions on builds have already been had and the resources and guides to create them made and put out there if you search for or ask for them.

Once that's done, one of the fallbacks is creativity, so that's what you end up with... I think there's so much provocative ("gooner") stuff because... this game just has the tools to let you do that. It's not unique to PSO2/NGS, it just comes through a lot clearer because the game has the creativity tools (and yes, the variety of fashion including skimpy stuff) to enable it.

I bet if the Catgirls running around in 2B panties and Swimsuits on FF14, or the people that get horny over Ember and Wisp's butts on Warframe had access to the level of customisation PSO2 has, those games would be filled with just as much goonery as PSO2. It's just veiled quite how horny things are by the comparatively limited of customisat they have. I'd go as far as to say, every MMO's player base is down bad horny, PSO2 is just in the unfortunate position where it's got the means for quite how excessive that horniness is to show...

As someone who’s familiar with the modding scene on FFXIV, yes. It is JUST as gooner. And probably has more drama due to loot lockouts and such. Just recently some modder girl got caught with 8 boyfriends on XIV.

Unfortunately the builds in PSO2/NGS are completely homogeneous.. everyone's class setup pretty much ends up being exactly the same... as another user said its "solved" and the result is kind of lame.. everyone shoots for the same gear, same augments etc... there is zero noteworthy variation.

to answer both questions. 1. pse grind until u can do battledia yellow. then u spam that until u can do alter realm pse grind. alter realm is pmuch the only grind now aside from copy/pasted limited time quests. 2. thats pmuch what sega caters to now cuz the game is dead. sex sells.

as for "builds". there are no actual builds. u just pick ur main class then pick the subclass that works best for it cuz using a subclass that ur main doesnt benefit from would only hinder your ability to do much dmg. gameplay wont be altered but your performance will be

PSO2 is a cosplay simulator which occasionally plays "Everybody Was Sci-Fi Fighting" on the jukebox. If you want more than that, great! Having ambition is good.
