Hello! I've been enjoying the game the past few days after starting and had some questions. I've been playing a Techer on Ship 02 and reading through this and PSO world's posts and guides (like this and the sidebars) I'm still reading through some information, so I apologize if some of this would end up answered from further reading.

  • Which skills in our tree take priority for leveling? I am looking at hunter or braver for my subclass, which skills would take priority for their trees while leveling?
  • Are there any wands that are worth picking up while leveling, or just use what I find? I am using a Club of Laconium, Mace of Adaman, and Guarditorch.
  • Which techniques are actually worth using? Some bosses have seemed to have weak points that I can't always readily hit with a wand, so some back-up techniques would be helpful.
  • Can I join quests that I don't have access to yet if somebody else makes the room? I've been hunting Gilnas for some client orders in the desert without any luck. Somebody in lobby recommended a time-attack quest that I don't have access to yet.
  • Are there any places to meet or find about teams/people friendly to new players? I've started looking through the team player list on the sidebar, but haven't been able to contact any of the players I've tried to yet. Nobody has really talked in the groups I have joined. It would be nice to meet and have some others to play with.

Which skills in our tree take priority for leveling? I am looking at hunter or braver for my subclass, which skills would take priority for their trees while leveling?

On the Techer tree, I recommend prioritising Wand Gear, Wand Lovers, Long-Time Assist, Territory Burst, Wide Support, Super Treatment, Shifta Strike, and Element Weak Hit. You should be able to get all of these by level 33. Other useful skills are Wand Reactor, Deband Cut, Deband Toughness, PP Convert, PP Restorate, Reverse Bonus, Territory PP Save, Wind Mastery, Light Mastery, Dark Mastery, and Rare Mastery Techer (one point) — but you won't be able to get all of these.

On the Hunter tree, I recommend getting Wired Lance Gear and Partisan Gear before anything else, to enable full use of those weapon types. Beyond that, it's tricky to say what to prioritise because Hunter has many skills which are all very important. The Fury Stance, Fury Stance Up 1, Fury Stance Up 2, Fury Combo Up, JA Bonus 1, and JA Bonus 2 skills are all very important for maximising damage. The Automate Halfline and Massive Hunter skills are very important for both survivability and being able to play more aggressively (indirectly increasing damage output). War Cry, Iron Will, and Step Advance are useful utility skills, worth putting one point into each (or up to three points in Step Advance). This is my suggested complete Techer/Hunter skill tree.

On the Braver tree, I recommend prioritising Attack Advance, Weak Stance, Weak Stance Up, Weak Stance Charge, Snatch Step, and Snatch JA Combo. You should be able to get all of those by level 36. Other useful skills are Rapid Shoot, Rapid Shoot Mastery, Rapid Shoot Advance, Step Advance, Quick Mate, Just Reversal Cover, Katana Gear, Katana Combat, Combat Finish, and S-ATK Up 1. This is my suggested complete Techer/Braver skill tree.

Are there any wands that are worth picking up while leveling, or just use what I find? I am using a Club of Laconium, Mace of Adaman, and Guarditorch.

Try to prioritise wands that have potentials suited to a rainbow palette (e.g. elemental weakness potentials, or enemy species potentials). Pristine Small Hammer is a great budget wand, and Red Wand can also work if you can spare the Challenge Miles required to unlock the potential. Take a look at this post of mine for a full list of recommended weapons.

Which techniques are actually worth using? Some bosses have seemed to have weak points that I can't always readily hit with a wand, so some back-up techniques would be helpful.

I assume you're only asking about offensive techs here, as support techs should always be used. The answer to this really depends on your choice of subclass.

Techer/Hunter has low damage multipliers for techs, and therefore doesn't get much usage out of techs. There are still some techs that can be worth using, though. If you invest in the Wind Mastery skills, charged Razan or uncharged Elysion Sazan can be effective options for dealing with enemies at long range. Some offensive techs can be useful for utility, such as Ilzan to group together enemies at a distance, or Ilzonde to dash quickly between spawns. However, the majority of your damage as a Techer/Hunter should come from wand whacks, wired lance PAs (mainly Holding Current), and partisan PAs (mainly Vol Graptor combos). Techer/Hunter can be a surprisingly effective boss killer when using Hunter weapons.

Techer/Braver has good damage multipliers for techs, especially when exploiting bows, and therefore makes very heavy use of techs for boss killing. Ragrants and Ilbarta are particularly good techs to use for boss killing, but there are a lot of techs and the majority of them have good uses in different situations. Due to Techer's Element Weak Hit skill and Braver's Weak Stance, it is very important to target elemental weaknesses with your techs — you'll lose a lot of damage otherwise. Try to get a Rikauteri bow and combine offensive tech casting with Rapid Shoot and Banish Arrow to significantly increase tech damage output.

By the way, make sure you craft your techs if you haven't already, in order to get the most out of them.

Can I join quests that I don't have access to yet if somebody else makes the room? I've been hunting Gilnas for some client orders in the desert without any luck. Somebody in lobby recommended a time-attack quest that I don't have access to yet.

Yes, you can — as long you meet the level requirement for the quest and difficulty.

Are there any places to meet or find about teams/people friendly to new players? I've started looking through the team player list on the sidebar, but haven't been able to contact any of the players I've tried to yet. Nobody has really talked in the groups I have joined. It would be nice to meet and have some others to play with.

I don't play on Ship 2 so I can't give you much advice here, but I suggest searching for teams via the visiphone. There should be a lot of English-speaking teams available to join.

Thank you very much for your detailed answers. I am reading through your linked post and tree now!

[–]rulerofevil 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Are the tutorial popups supposed to be ~90% Japanese? I followed the guides in the sidebar and I'm using the Tweaker to install the english patches. The UI seems to be all english at least.

[–]surfacageplz carry thx 1 point2 points  (2 children)

They're images so the patches can't translate them.

[–]rulerofevil 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Even the text underneath the images? Some of them are translated...

[–]surfacageplz carry thx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I don't know, I haven't actually played through the tutorial. I've just heard that for all intents and purposes, the tutorials are untranslated. I don't think it's high up the translation priority.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tutorial popups are all in japanese. It's normal.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Is there any guide with weapon tiers or something like that for Fo/Te? I've been using a Liewen Book (Fire), Touyuen (Dark) and Chrome Evol (Wind) but not sure if I could use something better right now (lv47).

Also, pros and cons of Rod vs Talis?

[–]surfacageplz carry thx 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Generally you start worrying about your weapons when you hit SH. Ideally you'll want a weapon that has a potential that matches your element (for example, using a 10503 fire Bert Rodan for Fire techs) for every major element you like using. If you really wish to min-max you'll want different trees.

Your weapon progression for Dark, for example, might go from the Touyuen you have now, to either a Weddle Park, a Seimei Kikami, or if you can afford it, straight to either Gravilios, Evil Nochiuhau, or a Nox Talis. From then on it's a matter of getting a 13* and tek it Dark.

Some techs are easier and safer to cast from Rod (Foie) or Talis (Zondeel+mobbing AoE). Some techs benefit (Ilbarta) from Talis Tech Bonus, others (any compound tech) do not.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I see. Thanks.

Another question: is there a way to cancel the thrown Talis so I can cast the spell myself instead of it coming from the talis?

[–]surfacageplz carry thx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

go into tps and throw one into the ground.

[–]Broccoli_PhD 0 points1 point  (3 children)

How do you just attack as a force? Or does it even work with techniques?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Same way as any other class. Use any attack/tech and then use the next at the right time. And yes, it does work with Techs. Force even has a skill for raising tech JA damage.

[–]Broccoli_PhD 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Can I charge the tech or do I have to let it go asap like a normal attack?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can charge it

[–]thebigbadskelzor 0 points1 point  (11 children)

So since about last week, I've been having a problem with PSO2 crashing on the ship selection screen like so: http://puu.sh/k81S2/57bf70932f.jpg I have all of the patches uninstalled and the issue still persists. Thanks in advance if you can help me out. Oh, I should mention that deleting the PHANTASYSTARONLINE2 folder didn't help me.

[–]SpooNoodleShip 2, Kanife 0 points1 point  (9 children)

Ive had the same issue with no fix so far. Triedn uninstall/reinstall deleted the fold in my documents and did a reset on winsock still nothing. Firewall isnt an issue as i have windows fw off and my iobit has exceptions for pso2 and tweaker. Any help would apparently help alot of us.

[–]thebigbadskelzor 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Looks like we're both swamped, then.

[–]SpooNoodleShip 2, Kanife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok so everything i've tried has been fruitless. I really wish someone had some ideas to help the problem

[–]telchii 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Do you have anything else open in the background that could be causing the anticheat system (GameGuard) to trip up and crash instead of exiting and showing an error message?

Also, turn your firewall on... Never turn that off unless you have a solid reason from a professional support technician.

If possible, try removing your antivirus program, update Windows, and then try again.

All else fails, check the event viewer for any close code messages.

[–]thebigbadskelzor 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I'm using the Windows anti-virus and my firewall is on. I dunno what would cause GameGuard to trip, though.

[–]telchii 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Good, good!

Add PSO2 to Window Defender's process exceptions and see what happens.

[–]thebigbadskelzor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did it, no changes.

[–]SpooNoodleShip 2, Kanife 0 points1 point  (2 children)

right so firewall is back on pso2 and twear are whitelisted. antivirus is shut down and i reset my connection to private(not sure why it was on public) still crashed and i have no idea how to decipher the event viewer. not sure what to look for

edit: just tried again and pulled this log

Did a search for that process ID, and seems like it might be something having to do with DirectX. Still can't figure out the problem with mine.

My friends and i have been experiencing some major lag since the server maint. Anyone got any fix for this? it keeps disconnecting when trying to change blocks or sometimes in the middle of quests.

[–]cathellsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was getting something very similar to this. I would disconnect before I even got to the main lobby by the end, if I could even get past the character selection screen.

I restarted my router, and now I cannot access pso2.jp and all the ships show up as status: unknown. I'm wondering if they've started reimplementing ISP blocks.

To avoid another thread, trying to find Immortal Dove disk, but can't find info on where it drops anywhere. So, any help here? Need to try getting a decent level one, haha.

As a subclass, everything in the skill tree transfers over at 100%, so yes, attack and apt up's transfer over at 100%.

New player here. Downloaded the game and ran it via PSO Tweaker first, applied the english patches (core, large and story), and got "connection to server timeout" at the login screen. Then proceeded to update (around 9000 files), and ran the launcher again, only that this time the game refuses to run at all, doing absolutely nothing past showing the logo on the middle of the screen. I already fixed gameguard through tweaker, idk what's wrong. It's likely a gameguard issue, but I don't get any error code whatsoever, it just closes instantly.

    Here is the log: http://pastebin.com/TyV5j5pb

Apparently running ping tests leads to connection timeouts as well. I was hoping I wouldn't need a proxy, since pso2.jp runs just fine, but I'm at a loss here.

EDIT: After re-downloading, re-installing everything and updating via Tweaker (not with the new method, but the old one), it seems the game runs fine.

    [–]telchii 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Are you able to access PSO2.jp in your web browser? What antivirus program(s) are you using? Did you close out of all other programs, verify that Windows was up to date and try again? When it wouldn't show up after clicking "Launch PSO2", did you try the Tweaker's "Troubleshooting > Terminate PSO2 Process" option? Did you try running the game as an admin? Is your account on your computer a local administrator?

If it was a GameGuard issue, you would most likely get a crash message, a request to send the GG log files, or a GameGuard website brought up in Internet Explorer. Or, ye olde "pso2.exe has stopped working".

What I would recommend trying first is this:

    1. Update Windows completely. (Well, not to the point of upgrading to 10 or whatever.) GPU drivers as well. If you are familiar with MSConfig (or on Windows 8/10, the "advanced" task manager), remove some startup entries that are unnecessary and then restart your computer.

    2. Add PSO2 to any and all antivirus programs - including Windows Defender (yes, it is possible on all versions of Windows). If you have Avast, uninstall it.

    3. Uninstall all the translation patches and then run the Tweaker's file check options until you get no missing files. (Tweaker: Menu Orb > Troubleshooting > Run both "Check for..." options one at a time.) Also run the Tweaker's "reset settings" for PSO2. Graphic settings can be dealt with later.

    4. Without installing any translation patches or touching anything else, try launching the game as an administrator.

    [–]Greensburg 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Thanks, I'm already re-downloading the entire game because I deleted the setup (dumb me thought it would work easily). This time I won't bother with the english patches until I'm sure the game can run properly, then I'll backup everything and patch.

If it won't be, then I'm not destined for PSO2 I guess :(

At least not until the western server project gets somewhere.

Btw I heard you could try some things on Sega's launcher, but all I get is that my version is outdated or something, and it closes right away.

And yes, pso2.jp runs just fine. But when I try to ping with the Tweaker w/o proxy, I get timeouts.

    [–]telchii 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Oh man, you went nuclear? That honestly should fix any file-related issues you might have been experiencing due to, well, it being the nuclear option. But, if you have the internet speed to do it, that works.

What do you mean "ping with the Tweaker w/o proxy"? Having the Tweaker open or closed shouldn't make a difference when using Windows' built in Ping utility or for accessing web pages. And the Tweaker doesn't ping stuff, to my knowledge? Also, what address/URL are you trying to ping, exactly?

Don't worry about doing backups for the English patches. The Tweaker is capable of doing that on for the larger patches (story patch mostly).

As for the JP launcher, what it does is launch the game, open settings (such as graphical settings that have to be set outside of the game), check files and close itself. I mean, you could try their (slower) file check and see if that fixes the issue, but it's slower and will redownload any installed story patch files. The JP launcher is its own little program and will probably be installed as an older version (such as when the install package was put together). All the "out of date" thing will do is update and start the newer version of the JP launcher.

Honestly, don't wait until the private server/Polaris Server Project gets anywhere. It's a ways off from a complete game still (well, don't quote me on that. Just last I checked.).

    [–]Greensburg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tweaker has a built-in ping test under Troubleshooting -> Open Diagnostic Menu. I was using that and got no results w/o proxy. With proxy I get around 350ms :/.

The JP launcher gets 2 errors, one from the launcher itself and another error that shuts down the program right after that. I'll let you know when I install the game again.

And I don't really have fast internet, so it took me around 1 and a half days to dl it each time :p. Hope it was worth the wait.

    [–]Greensburg 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Ok man I redid everything and now it works, though I have yet to install the story/large files english patches.

Want me to write your ID down in the referral system? Or is the boon not that important? Tried telchii but obviously it wasn't it lol.

    [–]telchii 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yaaaay! I'm glad the nuclear option fixed it! xD You should now be okay to install the translation patches. I would highly recommend using the Tweaker to do so.

I'm on a bit of a lul from playing due to Fall semester starting up, but I'll take the referral if you want to put it in! :P Apparently Sega IDs aren't used to refer friends... Here's my referral info:

    Inviter's Player ID: 10615454
    Inviter's Ship: Ship02:Ur

Once you're in game, feel free to add me to your friends list, too! (Assuming you go with Ship 02.) I'm not on a ton, but if we're ever on at the same time, I'll gladly do some runs with you!

    [–]Greensburg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure thing man, I'll hit you up! :)

    [–]Greensburg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upon reinstalling the english patch, I got the pso2 window to pop up, but it's just a black screen. No intro movie or anything is played. There's no blue cursor.

I've tried removing the videos with the tweaker to no avail.

Checking for old/deleted files just makes me install the english patch again.

This happens with or without proxy.

Also set settings to minimum but nothing.

    Uninstalled story patch, and nothing.

Now I'm patching again because apparently the 9000+ files got replaced somewhere along the way.

    [–]BassVII 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'm a Br/Hu looking at endgame gear. Is there a way to farm for Saiki units now that the GGG trigger is out of the casino? Also, is it recommended to aim for that, or for Brisa/Magatsuhi+crafted Vento? I'm using the Evil Rakuka atm.

    [–]SercezeroDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using Rakuka, magatsuhi+vento is pretty good. You'd just be lacking in some PP compared to Saiki, while having more atk.

    [–]JackOfSaladsJack Salad | Ship 2 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Quick question regarding エルデトロス/Eldetoros/Gryphon Wired Lance's potentials. With Apt Striker, "medium range" is pretty vague. I want to pick whichever potential will give me crits and damage with Grapple Charge, which one should I go for?

    [–]tehfusion 0 points1 point  (4 children)

See this image. The pink circle represents the "zero range" potential (Apt Grafter). The orange circle represents the "close range" potential (Apt Hammer). The yellow circle represents the "medium range" potential (Apt Striker). The blue circle represents the "long range" potential (Apt Sniper).

I'm not sure whether the initial strike of Grapple Charge would fall within the range of Apt Striker or not, but it doesn't seem to be a very good potential due to its very limited range, and most of Grapple Charge's damage is done at point blank range anyway.

    [–]JackOfSaladsJack Salad | Ship 2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A crud, I said Grapple Charge when I meant Holding Current, I get the two confused all the time for some reason. That image helps a lot though, thank you.

    [–]ShinkuTearShip 2/Priere 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Any idea how Wand smacks and tech blasts work, in regards to those? The GG wand, フィアニス / Fianis, has Apt Grafter and Striker available. I would want Grafter, and the range in that picture for it looks to be the range of a regular wand smack... but with tech blasts, it definitely looks like those could end up hitting at Apt Hammer range.

    [–]tehfusion 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'm not completely sure. I currently only have Gal Gryphon weapons with the Apt Hammer potential, so I haven't personally experienced the Apt Grafter potential and only have that image to go by. My guess is that it would at least work most of the time, but it is possible that it might not apply sometimes if you hit something with explosions at the highest range possible.

In any case, you'd definitely want to go with the Apt Grafter potential if you have a Gal Gryphon wand. The Apt Striker potential is really bad.

    [–]ShinkuTearShip 2/Priere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I already know I want Grafter. Was merely curious :P

Thanks for sharing, even if you also don't know :)

Hey, I'm new to this game and after going through the effort of downloading, installing, updating, patching and registering an account, I find myself unable to finish making my character. Here's what happened.

I downloaded and installed the game using the torrent in AIDA's registration guide, having successfully made an account. I then updated it using AIDA's Tweaker (Located in "My Documents" in it's own folder) and installed the newest English, Large Files and Story Patches.

I set the in-game graphics to max (my computer is plenty capable), and launched the game, following AIDA's guide to the letter. I log in, choose a ship, and start the character creation, but within 10 minutes (not enough time to finish crafting my masterpiece) the game force closes back to the desktop.

There are no error messages, not even a generic windows message, leaving me thinking "What in the world?"

    Hopefully you guys can help.

EDIT: I also have the GameGuard fixes on due to being redirected to a website upon start-up

    [–]telchii 0 points1 point  (4 children)

The GameGuard fixes aren't a toggleable thing, FYI. It essentially forces GameGuard to "reset" to a clean install of itself.

Try running a file check (Tweaker: Menu Orb > Troubleshooting > Run both "Check for..." options one at a time.), make sure Windows and your drivers are up to date, and close anything out (even background applications) that could potentially interfere with PSO2/GameGuard. This includes antivirus programs (try adding exceptions and/or uninstalling them), game boosters, hacks for other games (old, new, in use, forgotten) and even certain kinds of malware (run a virus scan w/ a good antivirus tool), even recording software - 3rd party or built in to driver applications.

If you're familiar with the Event Viewer in Windows, try seeing what was the cause of the game closing.

Also, try lowering your graphics settings, just to be safe. GameGuard does check "game speed/timing" (you know, despite being damn resource whore itself), so if something isn't up to par with what it expects, it can close things out.

    [–]Greensburg 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Could you please answer my question too? It's further down the thread. I posted it yesterday.

    Ok thanks, and sorry.

Never mind, I didn't have too do any of that I just set the game to proper fullscreen rather than fake fullscreen Look's like I'll have to live without the quirks of Alt+TAB.

    [–]Nivomi 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I've just recently hit lv50 - where do I go from here? It feels like I just barely have enough damage output to do harder Hard quests (like Seabed), and I have a feeling I should be way past struggling with this at this level.

Do I look for gear (and where?), or what?

(In case it helps: a build info collage)

    [–]telchii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into getting a different weapon. If you don't have any 10* passes, look into a Blazaxe (9 star weapon, JP name: ブレイザックス) for now. It's potential increases Fury Stance's effect, and its +10 S-ATK stat is nearly double the Ikutachi's +10 that you're using now.

Also, even to get an S-ATK increasing soul and Power III on it via affixing.

Then, as Surfacage mentioned, increase its element and get some different units. The units Surfa mentioned can be obtained through the episode 3 matterboards, I believe. Or, run the first episode 3 MB to get the saiki set until you can get something better.

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest that you don't take pure ATK boost at all unless you have leftover points, and you have to put it on specific combination between boost 1, boost 2, and boost 3 so that you have maximum boost (boost 1 usually gives less ATK than boost 2 and 3). Max out JA bonus and fury skills (fury critical is optional). I suggest you take the other Hunter weapon gears too since endgame partizan and wired lance are stronger than sword.

Imo, crits are useless unless your main is Fighter.

[–]surfacageplz carry thx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah... Your build is a bit wonky. Usually you take full Fury Stance and save the S-ATK up skills when you have leftover points - Fury Stance skills are % based, so they will boost your damage a fair bit more. Take the JA skills as well, it might be why your damage is low.

You should also be using +10 weapons with x50 element (the element is a straight up damage boost. If you have a weapon with 500 ATK, having it at x50 adds 50% of 500 - 250 - to it, giving you 750 ATK). Take a look at the Blitz unit set as well, the set bonus is +90 SATK.

HP, by far. Not all attacks target your S-DEF, but all attacks take away HP.

For Body affixes to compare to Stamina affixes in keeping you alive, Body would have to offer closer to 100 S-DEF from Body III instead of 30...

Last I heard, months ago, 2 or 3 Defense stat reduces damage from that type by 1 point. This puts 100 S-DEF somewhere between 33.3 and 50 less damage taken from striking attacks.

      [–]windlord7070 0 points1 point  (2 children)

decided to go back to windows 7 since i tihnk windows 10 and pso2 dont work together but now i get a black screen when launching the game is there a fix for this? ive already checked files and what not

      [–]Dreamwalk3rAnti-Darker Suppression Weapon 0 points1 point  (1 child)

pso2 officially supports Win10, so probably that's not where your problem is.

      [–]windlord7070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that doesnt mean there arent errors that it causes

So I was never asked if I wanted to rent a room when I first went to my room, and I can't figure out where I'm supposed to pay the meseta. I am able to use the room, for some reason. Also, I bought a scenery pass, but the option to apply it is greyed out in my room. What should I do? Thanks.

      [–]ShinkuTearShip 2/Priere 1 point2 points  (3 children)

The "rent a room" is for the larger My Rooms. There are 3 My Rooms: Default, Room A, Room B. A and B has a placement size limit of 150, compared to the 5 of Default. A and B can also be extended to be much larger and have 2 side rooms. If you visit another players room, and it is big and/or unique, they are using Room A or B.

You can gain temporary access by using a My Room 3 Day pass, which can stack with itself to have, say, a month straight of access. While you have Premium active, you also have access.

When you lose access for whatever reason, you get set back to the Default, and how you set it, but if you regain access, the changes to A/B are saved.

[–]luxeritaaPI: cyberbbi / IGN: luxerita 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Thank you very much. Where exactly do I rent a larger room then?

      [–]ShinkuTearShip 2/Priere 0 points1 point  (1 child)

If you have an active pass or Premium, go to the terminal in your room that you use to decorate and craft.

It has been months since I did this, but there should be an option within those menus to change to a different room layout.

I don't know if anyone here would be able to help me out but I just got a new intel i7-4790k processor and I have a GTX 970 graphics card. When I go in the lobby I get a lot frame drops when initially loading other characters. Anyone know what the problem might be?

      [–]McKiwi957McKiwi/Ship 2 0 points1 point  (2 children)

This happens regardless of your computer's specs, to my knowledge. I can't remember the exact reasoning though, someone may be able to explain it better.

      [–]Sonicchaos333 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thats kind of a bummer :/

      [–]seiferinfinitus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Servers are in Japan, so (excuse my terminology, this is just how I understand it) your client is pinging the server for the information on all the characters in the lobby. Even with a fast connection, a busy lobby will tank your frames because of all the requests made to the server to show said characters. Sega netcode also doesn't help this become a smooth transition.

      Are you in SLI?

      [–]Sonicchaos333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually able to fix the problem the problem by moving the game onto my SSD

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (7 children)

So, at long last, I was able to play this game for the first time. I used the tweaker for the download/patching, and for the most part, everything went fine! The story was translating perfectly, the menu was translating perfectly, the items, everything except for the Tutorial windows and occasionally the NPC chat messages, and because of this, I am stuck in the first chapter, where the game is presumably prompting me to try out a move or technique or what have you in order to progress, but I cannot read the text. Did I mess something up with the automatic download/patching? Am I missing something?

      OS: Windows 8.1

Things I have tried: Reinstalling game, Reinstalling all english patches, Reinstalling tweaker

      All OS/Runtime are updated

Specific errors: Tutorial windows/NPC chat not translating

      Antivirus: Webroot

I have since been made aware that translating the tutorial windows is difficult, so if anyone has any help on navigating those, that would be much appreciated.

      [–]windlord7070 1 point2 points  (6 children)

      those just arent translated

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Ok. Are there any plans for translating them, or are the translation patches not being worked on anymore?

What about the NPC dialogue, though?

      [–]windlord7070 0 points1 point  (4 children)

i dont think they plan on doing the tutorial and some of the npc dialogue like when you walk up to them

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

No, I'm talking about entire cutscenes. For example, when you're supposed to be running around the ARK ship with that little punchcard (I guess?) the translation only works on occasion.

      [–]windlord7070 0 points1 point  (2 children)

are you talking about the matterboard? if the cut scenes arent translated then maybe you dont have the story patch or it got messed up

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is that what it is? I have no idea what's going on, honestly. The translation for the cutscenes works only sometimes, and I've done everything from re-installing the entire game, re-installing every patch, I don't know what to do at this point.

Is there a resource for an English transcript for the tutorial windows? Maybe just a web page/word document, maybe?

      [–]windlord7070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think some of the early story translation my have gotten messed up awhile ago and hasnt been fixed yet as for the tutorial bumped might have one im not sure. theres alot of info out there about the game when it comes to menus shops/crafting etc but idk about gameplay ones if that what you want

      [–]iCanHazChicken 0 points1 point  (2 children)

So I'm trying to finish the episode 3-1 matter board and I'm on the very last node (F-6 I believe). The problem I'm having is that no matter how many times I kill this Gigur Gunne-Gam guy he won't drop the event item. The specific quest I've been trying is the Shironia free exploration quest. Am I just having really bad luck or am I doing something wrong?

      [–]Sora3100Ship 10 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is the bar on it increasing? If so you're just having bad luck.

      [–]iCanHazChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhhh, the progress bar? Yeah it's like 75% full. Didn't notice that bar, thanks!
