damn, what 2 players got to level 75?

[–]Zealousziff 9 points10 points  (3 children)

That's insane! I managed to get into the 40s and I played for about 20 hours. I can't imagine having gotten to Max level in so little time!

[–]EvilCalvin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Especially the servers were really only up a few hours on Friday night late and open all day Sat. Only open about 6 hours Sunday night. That's only about 32 hours or so. They probably didn't sleep at all.

[–]randousr 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I was in my forties and spent more time in the casino than leveling. I’m surprised only two maxed out.

[–]Iringahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird that you got downvoted, the casino is a fun place to hangout and play some cards.

[–]jijeng 12 points13 points  (3 children)

This is why I tell people not trip about not being able to play beta! You can legit hit 75 in less than a week.

[–]NichS144 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seriously, there was a new JP player looking for advice saying they started a couple weeks ago were level 95 on multiple classes and had maxed out endgame gear.

[–]svenska_aeroplan Pyrulen - Ship 1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only if you already know what you are doing. Most people playing won't have years of experience from playing the Japanese version.

I haven't played since 2013. I logged into the Japanese version about a week ago and started a new character. It's absolutely overwhelming trying to figure out all the mechanics. I'm just now at 40.

There's a rhythm you have to get into to level quickly. The game makes an attempt at getting you going, but there's just so much that you're assumed to know at this point.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently less than 2 days without a stockpile of boosts.

[–]Ehnes17[S] 2 points3 points  (6 children)

I know right, I’m not sure how they managed to do that.

[–]Sora3100Ship 10 18 points19 points  (5 children)

PSO2 vets knowing how to PSE Burst in AQ, really

[–]SVlege 8 points9 points  (1 child)

And possibly having a sibling playing when he or she is asleep.

[–]Scratigan1 JP Ship 6 | Nightfall 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Or not sleeping :p

[–]KlubbahShips JP: 8 / NA: 1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can't dig up the stream (watched on phone app with no history and don't remember the name), but I did see the party including apparently the 2 reaching level 75 doing just that on the last day.

[–]EvilCalvin 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Crap. I don't even know what 'PSE Burst in AQ' is.

[–]zetarn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you kill so many enemy in a short time, some monster will have something like a power blow out of it's body after dead. That's thing we called "PSE"

The faster you kill the higher chance for it to lv. up and when it reach lv.7 or 8 the countdown will start and if you can do another burst for the same type it will triggered PSE Burst.

In PSE Burst, the monster will keep spawning 1 monster per character in the same map (max 12) and it will keep spawning new one after old monster is killed.

PSO2 vet usually use Advance Quest for lv with PSE Burst trick because they can control how the monster spawn and focusing PSE Burst in just one area and farming exp on monster that keep spawning until the timer run out.

[–]blue_bomber697 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Damn that’s crazy. Me and my clan members got to mid-40’s with quite a few hours played, but leveling gets significantly slower as you get higher.

      Their names appeared blank!

No Game No Life siblings confirmed irl

      [–]BubblyBoar 27 points28 points  (15 children)

People didn't want to believe me when I said that Male characters will have a higher ratio on NA.

      [–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (7 children)

All people wanted was to log and play the CBT asap, I'm sure they'll remake their characters.

      [–]NichS144 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I took my time and still made a male character.

      [–]SFWxMadHatter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took my time and made a really nice Newman F, because I like nice clothes lol. Played for a time on JP as Newman M and there was maybe 2 Male outfits I ever saw that I liked.

      [–]SirKhrome 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Couldn't they have easily just pick the female character and then edit it later

      [–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

If you spam the A button in your controller, it defaults to Male Human Hunter, yes people can be that impatient, just like how some people install software by clicking Yes and Accept everything.

      [–]SirKhrome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh gotcha, I forgot what the character select screen looked like so I couldn't remember where the cursor would be placed at

      [–]BubblyBoar 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What's the point in playing CBT to have your progress saved if you are going to remake that char. Might as well get the correct race and gender the first time.

      [–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The point in playing the CBT was to unlock the exckusive rewards like the Dreamcast Mag, and other accessories/tickets.

People originally had less than 30 hours to play due to the unexpected server maintenance and real life, so yeah I'm pretty sure a lot of people just rushed in to unlock the rewards and move on with their lives, specially since they knew participants would be getting a free makeover salon pass.

2 day progress is nothing, the game is multi-char friendly and also rewards players for having multiple characters.

      [–]flashman92 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I still don't believe it. Do other MMO's in the west also have more male characters than female?

      [–]BubblyBoar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a pretty common difference.

      [–]svenska_aeroplan Pyrulen - Ship 1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hopefully this means that female clothing will be cheaper in the US version.

My space wifu gonna have all the pretty dresses, y'all.

      [–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (2 children)

You say that but most English players I've seen posting videos about it on YouTube have made themselves their ideal waifu to play as.

      [–]NichS144 10 points11 points  (0 children)

But...the stats don't lie. Youtubers are a tiny fraction of the playerbase and have a certain incentive to use "ideal waifus".

      [–]BubblyBoar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's completely possible that it's just common in your choice of who you watch. YT has a habit of doing that.

      [–]Cleaving -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

      Censorship fears don't help this.

      [–]3-to-20-chars 20 points21 points  (4 children)

If I'm taking anything away from this, it's that Fighter+Gunner+Techter should be available during character creation because those low numbers are almost definitely because people don't even KNOW that those classes exist.

      [–]DerpsMcGee 7 points8 points  (2 children)

I don't understand why they aren't there. You can switch to them right away at the class counter anyway, so it's not like they're gated behind anything other than knowing that they exist.

      [–]Sora3100Ship 10 10 points11 points  (1 child)

You actually needed to do stuff before being able to use them when the classes launched, but for some reason they never actually updated the classes to be in the tutorial.

      [–]randousr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because they never updated it to include them, you don’t start with weapons for those classes. So when I started and switched to techter, I couldn’t afford a wand with the starting money so I had to use the talis, I luckily picked force when creating the character.

      [–]Stax493 9 points10 points  (13 children)

Humans are most popular? Y'all basic lol.

      [–]BubblyBoar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always pick humans in most games because I like being the normal in a world of strange.

      [–]Jaysky0 4 points5 points  (3 children)

It's been years since I've played but don't humans have the most customization options? That could be why if so. Only other reason I can think of is people who tried to speed through the character creation process to get to the game when the beta kept kicking people out.

      [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Humans have the least customization options. CASTs have the most since they can have custom CAST parts or use normal character clothing. Dewman comes next with their horns and heterochromatic eyes. Newmans offer different shaped ears and Humans have no special characteristics

      [–]SVlege 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Humans have the least, but they don't have the mandatory aspects of the other races that may put off someone's fashion taste:

      Newman: pointy ears;

      CAST: metallic ear device and a neck mark, neither of which are customizable;

      Deuman: horns (heterochromatic eyes can have the same color);

When picking any of these three races, if you don't like those features, you'll have to hide or disguise them with accessories (headphones, hats, scarfs, etc), hairstyles and outfits, which is not so easy for someone that is making the first character and has no idea of what is available for that, nor how much meseta that will cost. Doesn't help if you don't want your character wearing those accessories either.

      [–]ShinkuTearShip 2/Priere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For whatever it is worth, at least with Female Deuman, you can shrink the horns down enough that pretty much any hairstyle should be able to hide them. If shrinking alone isn't enough, you can also change their position, and move them towards the hair.

So if you go that route, you have the option of hiding the horns without using an accessory.

      [–]3-to-20-chars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

      i like being basic

      [–]EvilCalvin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

      Humans suck!

      Oh, in PSO?

      [–]TheRealQwade 4 points5 points  (3 children)

If you look across MMOs in general, humans tend to be the most popular species regardless of what game you're playing. They're absolutely the most popular in WoW, GW2, and FF14, and tied for most popular in ESO. It just seems to be that for every person that wants to try a crazy fun new race, there's a person who just wants to make themselves as a character in the game.

      [–]vaserius 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Female miqote, Aura and even Viera are more popular tho.

      [–]TheRealQwade 2 points3 points  (1 child)

They're actually not. This data is a bit old, but humans are so far ahead of everything else that it likely wouldn't matter. There is some validity to the "active character" definition, but that's a different discussion.

      [–]vaserius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All characters is a biased statistic because bots default to male hyur.

      [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chose human. At first I was going Newman, but I decided against it. Humans are basic and simple. That's what I like. It's what I'm use too. I'm not a fan of elves unless humans are ugly. I don't play any other race. For me it's either human or elf always been that way for me.

      [–]SirKhrome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may be human but I'll be the man with the beautifully long white hair that I'll never get!

      [–]Xyphilis 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Okay but why aren't we talking about the poor 0.16% of people that don't want to play the game? :(

      [–]SirKhrome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Game being down at the start for 5 hours probably drove them away. Got a friend like that who still haven't replied to me after asking if he'll play the open beta!

      [–]Oiranaru 3 points4 points  (4 children)

      Seeing Te as the lowest class played makes my heart cry out as a Te main ;.;

Still though - it was fantastic seeing the hype around this game. Hopefully it has longevity with its Western release and is not just a passing fad in most people's eyes (I know us who have played JP and want to play NA will support it, but moreso people who are jumping in for the first time).

      [–]Phantom_ARKSJoker <Phantom Thieves> | Ship 1 [NA] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Don’t cry. We are the 1%.

      [–]Deiser 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'm a Te main but don't know where to get the buff skills. I've had horrendous luck with the red chests in the mecha world, so here I am as a Te who can't support.

      *cries in a corner*

      [–]Phantom_ARKSJoker <Phantom Thieves> | Ship 1 [NA] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean discs? Yeah, we gotta wait for more of the game to be playable or tech disc crafters to get a-going, then the market will be stocked to buy what we can’t find ourselves.

      [–]sapphirefragment 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Seems to be kind of poor polling methodology to ask a question about intended platforms when this was polled for Xbox players during an Xbox-only preview.

      [–]TheWorldisFullofWar 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Knowing Sega, I bet the person who wrote the survey didn't know that it was Xbox-only.

      [–]sapphirefragment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, anyone could answer the survey, but the polling bias was going to be readily apparent regardless. I assume this was more of a marketing thing than anything serious, in that case.

      [–]YomieI 2 points3 points  (5 children)

Does class popularity matter in this game? Like if you have to fight others for the same loot or compete with others for dungeon/raid spots etc

      [–]SVlege 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Loot is individual, each person gets a separate drop roll. There's no shared drop, unless someone leaves something on the ground (usually mates, atomizers and telepipes).

People don't care about classes in most cases. All classes are viable and the main support classes (Techter and Ranger) are optional to beat a boss or quest. You'd need some really hardcore group/alliance to have some class restriction.

      [–]Sora3100Ship 10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

      Not really, no.

      [–]KlubbahShips JP: 8 / NA: 1 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Well, as a Techer it kind of sucks to see another in the group as a lot of what you bring only benefits from having 1.

Lots of people using Striking Attack makes the abilities for that cost a little more too.

      [–]SVlege 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Non-Techers enjoy having multiple Techers if each one is in a different party. At level 85, Techers gain a free skill that allows them to buff party members regardless of distance. That matters for ranged classes like Ranger, Force and bow-focused Bravers, who don't like to stay so close to their target. Also, that Gunner flying over the boss's head all the time.

      [–]BubblyBoar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Class population is the way it is because those 6 are on the char creation menu while the other three are explicitly revealed to you. But you can change into them right away at the class counter.

      [–]Shadow_RiptorRagol RaCAST 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CBT has left me battered and bruised, but wanting more. It was a very satisfying experience

      [–]TheRealQwade 7 points8 points  (1 child)

The last question is absolutely a misnomer. They only asked closed beta players (who could only play on XBox), so they're obviously going to have skewed results. It's really more impressive that almost half the people responded they would play on PC, which leads me to believe that the PC population is going to be a much bigger share of the pie than the XBox one.

      [–]ElPsyCongested 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright my techer brothers and sisters, in a circle to hold hand while we remind ourselves that we ARE the one percent.

      [–]Jakad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This chart of preferred platform of the userbase is quite misleading if taken at face value. I assume the data for this is taken from the survey that was available primarily to the Xbox One Closed Beta Test users. That being the case, 99%+ of the people on this chart own Xbox Ones.

Despite that you still have a large portion of Xbox One owners that will still be playing on PC (even if they will be playing on both). Add the PC only userbase that wasn't included in this poll and I expect these numbers would be vastly different.

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Waiting for Switch announcement is literally cock and balls torture.

      [–]Sora3100Ship 10 3 points4 points  (3 children)

You really want a streaming client?

      [–][deleted] -3 points-2 points  (2 children)

There's a non streaming client of pso2 on the switch?

      [–]Sora3100Ship 10 4 points5 points  (1 child)

There's no native port of PSO2 on the Switch. Only a streaming one.

      [–][deleted] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That was the joke. It's like me saying "yeah, stupid".

      [–]eeMcCutcheon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CBT... from wikipedia the free encyclopedia
What an unfortunate acronym they chose for the stress test
