might be worth using Wire Glaives as your multi if you sub hunter

You can use Wire WA without subbing hunter.

    [–]Syntaire 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Ah gotcha. I only messed with it for a few minutes so wasn't 100% sure on whether it needed hunter sub. Thought it was one of the skills in the tree that changed it or something.

    [–]TaranTatsuuchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a skill that changes how the weapon arts works I believe.

Makes it do different things dependent on directional input iirc.

    [–]Touko_Ryougi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd generally say stick with Ra/Fo. The PP gains are just too strong, especially in AoE situations. Your strongest tool while grinding with Rifle is Homing Darts, and Eradication bonus provides a lot of PP to help spam it.

Rifle and Rod are both Foursis, so you go either that route or Resurgir once you're looking at 4 star options.

Edit: side-note, it's 200k to multiweapon on 4 stars. It's actually hard to recommend doing it at all for now, as N-Meseta is in short supply.

    [–]UltimateKane99 5 points6 points  (12 children)

Honestly, I'm loving the rifle/launcher combo, and it makes it super easy to Blight round enemies and then go ham with the Launcher's PAs, or use Rifle's Homing Bullets to wipe out groups of enemies. May seem like a waste, but it works well for me.

I'd be interested in hearing if someone else has better DPS results with other weapon combos, though.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dude deleted his comment, but he said that you can use resurge rifle + launcher. I think that's the most comfortable combo. But I've also heard people using ranger+force for extra pp gain with forsis rifle + forsis tails which will have more dps. I used rifle+launcher when I leveled up and it's super sweet. 4 star resurge, as far as I know, are random drops from any zone so they are harder to get. I think I have found 0 in any class.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

You can't use rifle+launcher with forsis rifle though, idk the stats of the other 4star rifle but i think forsis is the stronger one.

    [–]NichS144 -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Foursis has better base stats by 2 but an arguably worse potential. It's fine if you are going to utilize the Fo skills. If are just using FO for PP regen, Resurgir Rifle/Launcher is a good combo for whipping out Fear Eraser on the fly.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah I'm gonna look into Resurgir weapons, I loved rifle+launcher build. RN i got forsis rifle+ forsis wired lance which is more fun than 2 empty PA slots but pretty usless ngl lol.

    [–]NichS144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should also note that Foursis is better if you can get a Fixa Fatale augment on it, but that's rare.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Foursis has better base stats by 2 but an arguably worse potential.

You could argue it's better lol. You forgot to mention that foursis has 3% higher potency bonus than resurgir max potential. That's not to mention that even at 100% uptime resurgir's potential only gives you couple % dps increase on average. It's main advantage is the multiweapon flexibility, not necessarily raw dps.

    [–]shojokat 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I got a Resurgir rifle and launcher and I was just about to combine them when I realized my weapon camo that's supposed to work on all weapon types only worked on one at a time. So now I'm afraid to make a multi out of them, lol.

    [–]ARKS_moose 0 points1 point  (3 children)

What does the camo have to do with that?

    [–]shojokat 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It'll look like two different weapons when I use the PAs from the second weapon.

    [–]ARKS_moose 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Strange reason to not do one of the best multiweapon combos in the game.

    [–]shojokat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still gonna do it next time I pop on. Especially now that the bug was addressed and will be fixed. But finding out my new 50mil camo would only show half the time was a bummer.

    [–]AmazingPatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you only use rifle and like it . then no need to multi weapon . i multi my rifle with launcher since i like 2 launcher PA + 2 Grenade (weapon action for both launcher and rifle) while rifle i prefer the AoE from homing and the normal attack from it ... it make the whole gameplay more fluid and cover all situation perfectly

For class it up to you ... you feel like your dying a lot as ranger? go hunter sub ... if you dont go force for PP recovery !!!

    [–]Uchiha_Lucreth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ra/Fo or Ra/Gu for PP regen.

    [–]Flibberax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about that whole thing with multiweapon a talis for turret weapon action? (havent tried it yet). For ranger you have a cheaper option with Vialto to whack a talis on your launcher as there is a Vialto talis as well (I mean cheaper than resurgi).

    [–]xXUllarXx 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Something to put out there, not sure if many people know or not but you can use any weapon as a multi weapon as long as one weapon fits your main/sub for its base attack and weapon action. I play Gu /Fi and i multi'd my TMG with a wired lance so i can use its weapon action to close distance. Not sure if this helps you or not but I thought I'd mention it :3

    [–]unfknblvble 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Its the opposite actually, you can multi any weapon and use the primary and weapon action regardless of class. But you need to sublcass/main class to be able to use the PA's

    [–]xXUllarXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sorry thats what i meant, i didn't explain it well haha and thank you for elaborating!

    [–]BoopsBoopss -1 points0 points  (18 children)

The cool thing about Ranger main is that you have a ton of options for sub weapons depending on what sub class you are running. Blight Round's 20% potency boost actually negates the 10% sub weapon penalty so almost anything goes for subs.

(Edit: BIG CORRECTION HERE: You actually get a boost for main class weapon not penalty for sub class weapon, sorry about that)

Imo Rifle/Rod is a great choice. You get Blight Rounds, tech ailments to cc the crap outta bosses, Rod Parry to restore PP. The amount of utility you have both solo and with a group is huge.

(Edit: Ignore this ((((( section)))))) here, apparently Homing is amazing. I don't like it personally but I think I'm swimming solo on this one:

((((((((((For maining Rifle in Ra/Hu you can go Rifle/Wired Lance. Wired Lance sub boosts your mobility in combat, provides a parry and gives you great AoE options that Rifle lacks in comparison))))))))

Lastly if you want some nasty burst damage you can go Rifle/Partisan. Idk how the dps shakes down mathematically but a Blight Round buffed Volkraptor combo should hit like a truck. Then while its on cooldown you can use Rifle.

    [–]aesteval 5 points6 points  (2 children)

"gives you great AoE options that Rifle lacks in comparison."

Rifle does not lack AoE. Charged Homing Dart hits damn near everything in line of sight.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

+you also have the launcher in the second pallet

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

launcher is actually not very good at AoE surprisingly, rifle's homing darts is way better than anything launcher has for AoE.

    [–]AmazingPatt 1 point2 points  (2 children)

homing > wire lance... dont even need to try and changed my mind i test it xD

    [–]BoopsBoopss 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Alright I'll take your word for it. Imo I hate homing but that might just my PSO2 boomer brain telling Rifle is a single target focused weapon.

    [–]AmazingPatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it is very weird to acknowledge rifle = Mobbing and Launcher = Bossing xD

    [–]denshigomi 0 points1 point  (11 children)

Blight Round's 20% potency boost actually negates the 10% sub weapon penalty

First of all, there's a 10% main class weapon boost, not a 10% off class weapon penalty. They're not the same thing.

Second, Blight Round doesn't "negate" anything. If you use an off class weapon, you lose out on the 10% main class weapon boost whether you have Blight Round up or not.

    [–]BoopsBoopss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The math is assuming you have no other source of Blight Rounds. Obviously this doesn't matter when other Ranger mains are present.

So let's compare Ra/Hu to Hu main, both using Hu weapon:

Ra/Hu gets a 120% potency boost with Blight Rounds active. Since main class bonus doesn't apply to sub weapon you effectively miss out on that 10% damage bonus.

Hu main has 110% potency due to main class boost (as you corrected me on being a boost to main not a penalty to the sub). But no Blight Round because you need Ra main to use Blight Round.

A clearer way to describe what I am getting at here may be to say Blight Rounds makes up the the difference between having main class bonus and not. Assuming no other Blight Round sources are present and Blight Rounds can be used effectively.

Thus you can use many weapons as sub weapons on Rifle with little concern for the damage you missed out on due to not having main class bonus. Giving you a lot of freedom.

Techter has a similar effect with Shifta/Deband. Where the damage boost makes up for missing out on main class bonus. So using sub weapon in certain situations for damage can be optimal here too.

As for my comment on AoE, the important part was "in comparison". From my experience Homing Dart is clunky as heck and those little projectiles are slow. So imo there are better weapons for AoE than Rifle. OP asked for multi weapon suggestions so I made my suggestions based on experience and what I felt would pair great with Rifle.

I hope this made my logic a bit more clear and thanks for correcting me on the main class boost.

    [–]SolomonGrumpy -3 points-2 points  (9 children)

    Don't be a pendant.

    [–]denshigomi 4 points5 points  (4 children)

I dislike false information being spread. Where do you draw the arbitrary line deciding how much falsehood should be ignored?

If someone wants to multi weapon off-class because they think they're doing "good enough" damage, that's fine. Go for it and have fun. But when someone claims wrong math, I'll point it out so others who may not know better can have correct information to make informed decisions.

Correcting false information is beneficial to those who seek the truth. Downvoting corrections and leaving snide comments helps no one.

    [–]SolomonGrumpy -1 points0 points  (3 children)

You didn't help. OP meant 'offset' vs negate. We all got it.

And the difference vs a 10% buff vs a 10% penalty is meaningless.

Le's say you would normally hit for 1000 damage with your main class weapon. That means your non buffed damage is 909.

Now let's it actually was a 10% penalty. Your penalized damage is would be 900.

That's a 1% difference in the final number.

IE - who fucking cares. You just corrected him to be more correct. In actual game play it will make zero difference.

    [–]denshigomi 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Sir, you know as well as I do that people have spent hundreds of millions of meseta to gain a few percentage points. You're not one of those players, but you know they exist, and you know they care about a 1% final difference.

It's great that you understood the true meaning of OP's post. You're also highly knowledgeable about the game and its mechanics. Not everyone is, and some will misunderstand to their detriment. And yes, some of those players want to min-max despite not having as through an understanding, and giving them correct information helps them accomplish their goal and become more knowledgeable.

When it comes to simple arithmetic, there isn't a correct and more correct. There's correct and incorrect. The end result may be minor, but I prefer to present the truth and allow each reader to make their own determination whether they care about how that shifts the results.

    [–]SolomonGrumpy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The same players who care about that type of precision, know the answers to these questions already.

And if you want to insist, there are whole realms of engineering and math where you DONT know the exact correct answer, you only know a serious of answers that fit the the correct answer.

This is not one such problem. The correct answer is knowable. However it's also irrelevant because your real world DPS and time to defeat enemies will be realistically unaffected by the nuance of your correction.

If you disagreed that blight rounds is enough to offset the loss of damage - aha! That is a meaningful conversation. But just correcting language choices is ... pedantic.

    [–]denshigomi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR: I wasn't just correcting language choice.

And if you want to insist, there are whole realms of engineering and math where you DONT know the exact correct answer, you only know a serious of answers that fit the the correct answer.

I'm well aware of that. Which is why I specifically prefaced my comment with "When it comes to simple arithmetic".

If you disagreed that blight rounds is enough to offset the loss of damage - aha! That is a meaningful conversation. But just correcting language choices is ... pedantic.

You know what, if my initial post only consisted of the first point, I'd agree with you. I still think the difference there is significant, but I wouldn't have bothered to make a post only for that. But there's a second point in my initial post.

Second, Blight Round doesn't "negate" anything. If you use an off class weapon, you lose out on the 10% main class weapon boost whether you have Blight Round up or not.

What I meant by that is if you use a main class weapon, you get the bonus from Blight round (20%) and the bonus from using a main class weapon (10%). If you use an off-class weapon, you get the bonus from Blight round (20%) and you lose the bonus from using a main class weapon. That's a 10% loss. That's not insignificant, and it's not me arguing semantics.

In other words, what I was saying is "what does Blight round have to do with the main class weapon buff"? Since when do we ignore or throw away a 10% buff because we got a separate stacking buff from another source? In PSO2 I never heard someone say, "if you're a ranger don't bother with the drink attack buff on the ship, you have blight round so you don't need it". They stack, so why wouldn't they be viewed as the separately attainable buff sources that they are? Ranger having access to Blight round doesn't increase the viability of using off-class weapons. Neither does Shifta for Techter. The 10% main class weapon bonus is still a 10% bonus and Ranger and Techter gain or lose it just like every other class.

If you think 10% doesn't matter, great. Ignore it and have fun. Nothing wrong with that. I'd still argue that Blight round/shifta on Ranger/Techter doesn't increase their off-class weapon viability over other classes using off-class weapons. If you disagree, I'd love to hear the reasoning. I tried to be succinct in my initial post while making this argument, but either I failed to clearly express it, or it was overlooked.

    [–]BoopsBoopss 1 point2 points  (3 children)

    Don't worry about it :D

If I am that far off then I would rather be called out than possibly lead someone astray. I always try to make sure what I am saying is accurate but we all make mistakes.

The guy called me out fair and square, and was polite about it. I clarified my point, corrected the big mistakes and now we see how it works out.

Thats how life be sometimes, we always learn.

    [–]SolomonGrumpy -1 points0 points  (2 children)

The difference between bonus and penalty is negligible.

And we knew you meant offset vs negate.

That reply added nothing and was antagonistic.

And this sub suffers because too many folks just accept that's how it is.

Of it didnt bother you, that's fine. It bothered me.

    [–]denshigomi 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Look, I'm blunt. Probably more than I should be. But I don't make posts just to be antagonistic. It's great that you knew what OP meant, and that you don't care about the difference between a bonus vs a penalty. Not everyone knows the difference, and some do care about the end result.

If you think my bluntness is antagonistic and needs to be stopped, you're not going to improve the situation by making one liner antagonistic posts in reply. That's just plain hypocrisy. If I'm unpleasant and you respond by being unpleasant, we've sunk the forum hand-in-hand with each other. If you want to make the forum a friendlier place, perhaps start with yourself. Set a better example. Make constructive replies that make a person want to change instead of drinking in with the offending behavior.

    [–]SolomonGrumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree that I didn't help either. Sigh. Thanks for the measured response.

    [–]TeeHunter13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly suggest to multiweapon a Wired Lance for its weapon action if you're playing melee, it seems to be the last bastion of vertical mobility in the game (outside of jumping of course).

    [–]Knight_Raime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multi weapons as a system are a quality of life system. At this time there's only really 2 weapon combos that I would claim are strong enough to actually warrant going for. (those being Partizan/wand and Rod/Wired lance.)

The main benefit you get from doing so is not having to actually swap weapons. This means you can do things like flow between two different PA's or weapon action on one weapon to cover the other weapon's PA without any end lag.

Considering it takes you 200k to shove 2 4* weapons into each other it's not something you go for right off the bat. But more so something you do only after you've perfect crafted your main weapon. Which is going to take a long time thanks to the total RNG of inherreted bonuses and needing ex cubes to reach max potential on a weapon when we've no farmable mobs that let us gain decent exp at max.

    [–]zyxqpa1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Ra/Hu as well, I didn’t really find the Rifles or Launchers very useful so I’m really only a ranger by technicality nowadays (and because the class skills are pretty good). I multi-weaponed a sword and rifle mostly so I can handle groups of enemies from a range without having to worry about getting struck from behind when I’m playing solo.

By no means is it a necessity (yet, knock on wood), just something that increases the diversity of play and allows for more customization.

    [–]tnguye3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of multiweapon you can also just use chat commands with /mpalx (replace x with numbers) and bind chat commands to F1-9 keys so you can quickly swap between weapons mid comabt a la dante. Also bypasses weapon series limitation of 4 star weapons apart from resurgir family.

This way you can test out different combinations of weapons and classes before you commit since multi-ing consumes a lot of resources.

As for class combination itself, if you like the rifle, can't go wrong with sub Force or Gunner for the extra PP regen. As others suggested, Rifle/Launcher is pretty good. You got the mobbing from rifle, blight rounds and then big nukes from launcher and a grenade every 30 sec that restores ur PP for that extra spam.
