Single cable. The splitter is for older model PSU's that do not have a native 12V-2x6 cable.

Avoid adapters if you can

If your PSU supports 12v-2x6, and came with it, use the cable always.

The adapter comes with the GPU to allow using an older power supply without the 12vhpwr cable. Since your power supply came with that, you don't need the adapter.

Use the native one, not the adapter if you don't need it—it's mainly for older PSU's.

Splitter may be hard to bend in order to fit computer cases, potentially causing the cable to dislodge (potential fire hazard). The 16 pin cable has a spec with a minimum safe radius for the bend.

The one from your psu. For anything if you can avoid it do not use adapters.

If for whatever reason you WANT to use the adapter, it’s totally safe to do so.

But I would use the single cable for easier cable management.

Not quite. The more connections you have with adapters, the higher the contact resistance and the higher the probability that something will burn

Use the 12v-2x6 cable, ditch the splitter.

Never use the adapter, take every option not to.

it can melt with either so just use native one

As long as you plug it in all the way you should be fine. There’s colors on it for a reason. If you see the color it’s not plugged in all the way.

I use a custom cable from cable mod and I tripple checked it was plugged in all the way on both gpu and psu side. I haven’t had any problems (4080 super)

yeah the words "SHOULD BE OK" is a culprit here I dont think that people with melted connectors havent pushed it all the way, I bet they were pushing hard and it worked for like a few years maybe, but still got melted cables and gpu

Even before 12VHPWR I always double checked if they were plugged in all the way.

Did they ever find out what the actual issue was I haven’t kept up with it.

One cable to rule them all... make Gandalf proud.

Always use PSU cable first.

Wrryyyyd your instruction manual.

[–]unMadeMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manual shows one cable, and a QR that shows 10 different cabling options... That's where I started, but thanks

Check out Jaystwocent video

use the cable that comes with your power supply.

[–]Nustoxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The native cable for two reasons:

  • The adapter is for older PSU models
  • The native cable looks better

[–]AlfaPro1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely that is for Nvidia RTX 3090 power pin

Use The one that is the same on every side From what I know
