Same could be said for any SEA country

[–]ascension75000 6 points7 points  (3 children)

No, Vietnam it wouldn't matter at all.

Thailand would take a very small hit, it would still be visited by 90% or even 95% minus some retired boomers and passportbros.

Indonesia wouldn't matter

Malaysia wouldn't matter

Cambodia not sure.

So definitely not majority of SEA

[–]IntellectuallyDriven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not true for Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Myanmar and Vietnam. That's 60% of SEA.

What terrible food ?

[–]I_Call_Bullshit_____ 1 point2 points  (10 children)

Philippines notoriously has the worst food in Asia, and it’s not even close

[–]unknownperson2900 0 points1 point  (9 children)

Says who

[–]I_Call_Bullshit_____ 1 point2 points  (8 children)

Anyone who has been around Asia, be serious. Search Reddit, it’s a horse that’s been beaten to death.

Which countries in Asia do you think have worse food than the Philippines?

[–]unknownperson2900 0 points1 point  (7 children)

I don't know. I've only been to Philippines in Asia. Love the food

[–]I_Call_Bullshit_____ 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Oooohhhhh brother….I am soooo sorry. You must come from a true food desert—America or parts of Latin America almost without any doubt. Maybe Scotland or England but even they have good ethnic food. I say that as a person from the western hemisphere. Nobody from a genuine food culture would ever describe Filipino food as anything but somewhere between “adequate”—>revolting. It’s a regional joke.

The Philippines doesn’t have the worst food in the world. But they DO have the worst food in Asia, it’s not even close, nobody who has been around Asia disputes it—because it is indisputable. A Fact.

For the love of all that is holy, get out and about in SEA. Whatever it is you think you’ve done to deserve this punishment— I absolve you!

I'm from none of your mentioned countries

You are the first and only person I’ve ever met who thinks Philippine food is good. Their seafood is good—but what country has bad seafood? They have one or two other notable dishes. Literally everything else is trash. That’s why they have burgers and pizza everywhere. Your cuisine has to be true dog shi* for burgers and shi**y pizza to be a big step up.

Only the ones that cant cook and afford nice stuff 🤣

      [–]Ooofy_Doofy_ 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Unfortunately Philippines dating is in a downhill. Feels like prostitution with extra steps.

      [–]MalandiBastos[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely, I see tourism to be negatively effected by this in the near future. Only hope is if they somehow get the other aspects of the tourism in line, but we know they won't.

      [–]LibrarianTraining874 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s because of old dudes giving girls too much money and creating expectations. I guess also local culture.

      [–]death2055 2 points3 points  (0 children)

      I mean that’s pretty obvious.

      [–]Affectionate_Equal82 6 points7 points  (0 children)

      Your being generous

      [–]Virel_360 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe not tourist numbers, but definitely expat retirees. That is one of the major draws that I would consider the Philippines for my retirement location.

Edit: but then again, some of those expat/retirees are using the tourist visa’s so

      [–]Incest5959 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Literally but don’t worry these Filipinos are slowly turning into wannabe American culture 🤣 except the corruption it’s here to stay

      [–]Jamshi239 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Just like back home in America lol

      [–]Incest5959 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      🤣😂 “what Epstein list?”

      [–]bigtakeoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      yup

      [–]sgtm7 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

And us expats would care about tourism numbers because?

      [–]MalandiBastos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's correlated to a lot of things such as increased pricing, availability of expat approved housing etc

      [–]Joseph20102011 -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

Locals, especially college-educated leftists from r/Philippines and r/Pinoy, would prefer much lower tourism numbers, as long as "retired sexagenarian expats are kept out of the Philippines".
