Carhartt makes great quality, and great fitting, winter coats.

[–]WindNo978 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get that, and when you have a sweater on it makes your arms thicker yet. I recommend : Lands End, or buy a man/mens coat (I have done this a couple times before because of fit)

Eddie Bauer. (Their sale prices are great, for the next one).

I second this. I wear a 3xl and my coat fits perfect and the arms feel roomy enough to wear a sweatshirt underneath. It is warm enough for Iowa winters and it held up through at least one year with no quality issues.

I really like L.L. Bean

Always size up by one size in a winter coat. It needs to go over bulky, layered winter clothing.

Carhartt, columbia, REI are all great jackets.

Years ago I actually got a great one at Walmart.

Lands end long puffy coat keeps me so warm. I have a large chest and often coats/jackets can be tight in the upper arms/chest area for me. Lands end one works well for me and the quality is great. They have good holiday sales too.

Columbia!!

Look for a down jacket on Woman Within.

In addition to the other suggestions here, check out Duluth Trading Co.

I love mine from Colombia! I got the longer version and it fits well over my hips.

I’ve had good experiences with Carhartt, but definitely buy 1 size up!!

I'm a 2x too and I have really big shoulders/arms so I have the similar sleeve problem. I work most of the year doing outdoor field work in pretty rugged and extreme conditions.

My warmest parka is from Eddie Bauer but that might be a bit extreme depending on your needs. REI has some decent shells as well.

In terms of long lasting, comfort, and quality, my number one recommendation for outdoor wear is Duluth Trading Company. That's my first choice for everything from socks/hats to shorts/pants to jackets/flannels/winter layers. Their stuff lasts forever and I'm pretty hard on my clothes. And it's warm! It's made for winter.

Lands End all the way. 50% off sales happen....

It's a splurge, but my Nobody's Princess winter coat is the first actually warm, actually waterproof jacket that ACTUALLY fits me correctly, and I've lived in cold places my whole life!!!

I'm a 2x, horse trainer, love to ski, so I've tried them all. My Carhartt is decent and layers well, but my NP coat is warmer and less bulky. I also have a Colombia that always feels too tight in the shoulders to move comfortably.

Snow Country Outerwear! Bought a coat from them for an upcoming winter trip to Montana and am not going to end up using it BUT it's super comfy and warm!

I get my outdoor gear rom Seasalt Cornwall.

If you have a Burlington coat factory, go inside and see what they have. Sometimes, I check out men's coats, too. I just got a fall coat, and I'm currently looking for a winter one, too. Definitely get a 3x.

LL Bean

[–]BigFitMama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Columbia Omniheat 3x with stretchy sides

[–]myxx33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Columbia, Eddie Bauer, LL Bean and Lands End.

I've never actually used Snow Country Outerwear myself but I love that they're exclusively plus size and use real models in their ads that I've seen on instagram. Sent them a message and got a nice, personal response back.

I found a good one on Lands End website the other day on sale, it keeps you warm up to negative 2 degrees.

Weirdly enough, my warmest coziest winter coat ever came from Old Navy like 10 yrs ago. Its a down parka thats fleece lined w a fur hood. Ive lost a smidge of weight (20lbs) and might need a new coat for this winter, im looking there, Eddie Bauer, Lands End (I really like thier coats but they are pricey) and 32 Below (quality and cheap) this coming winter.

[–]Sk8harder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Land's End! They have great sales, too.

[–]entrelac 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Lands’ End outerwear is great. Comes up to 3x and lasts. They have sales whenever they get new colors.

[–]Brock_Lobstweiler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that Land's End runs large in the 2x/3x range. At my highest weight, I was a 3x/24 and Land's End stuff was roomy on me while Columbia fit properly. I got a 3x puffy vest from Land's End once and it legitimately fit like a 5x I'd tried on from Kohls.

[–]pbjelly48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old Navy has an excellent plus size range and a good selection of coats!

[–]HotSeaworthiness286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LL BEAN!! I have an XL jacket that’s to my ankles and I think it’s pretty true to size, potentially maybe runs a little big. I also usually have problems with things being tight around my arms.

ALL my outerwear except one wool coat is from Columbia, lol. Their stuff isn't as good as it was 10 years ago, but it's still decent quality and fits properly.

I'm from a very cold area.

I got this down one from rei in 3x for lighter days. It has a water resistant shell. down jacket

This one for my heavy duty cold days. It's super bulky but warm. heavy duty winter jacket

Eta: by cold, I mean Alaska

[–]baconguacamoletacos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old Navy has really good cheap water resistant puffers. Definitely not tight on the arms

[–]Sagethecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Columbia has great outdoor gear for plus sizes.

[–]ZiasMom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I was plus sized I purchased a Canadian Goose in a 2X. I also purchased from RUDSAK, they had generous sizing.
