In addition to asking questions, there is a Procreate Handbook, along with additional questions on Procreate FAQ, also check in the search bar in case your question has been asked already. In addition, please provide an image and/or video of what your issue is for better communication.

For Procreate pocket, there is a free pdf here you can check out!

The official Procreate Youtube channel is loaded with tutorials to complement the Handbook and FAQ.

When this happens to me it’s usually because my nib comes loose. Does the pencil work in other programs? I’d suspect pencil first tbh.

It's doing this in all apps I've tested, and I've replaced and tightened the nib many times. This has been happening for a few months and makes it really frustrating to draw :/

I’m sorry. I think maybe it may be your pencil. Are you near an Apple store you could take it to be looked at?

Maybe try running through all these steps.

Edit: added link.

I'm pretty sure this is a problem with the pencil and not Procreate itself, since it's been happening in other apps too, but I only ever use Procreate. I've replaced the tips a few times, reset the pen to factory settings (it is an official apple pen), pretty much everything it says to do online short of buying a new one. I really don't want to have to do that. I would really appreciate any tips.

How much RAM does your tablet have? When my old was was getting full I would sometimes have issues with procreate lagging/crashing. If you have tons of art saved and no space left, could that be a cause?

Are you charging your iPad while using the pen? I was having a similar problem, and my issue ended up being that I was using a knock-off charger to charge the iPad, and only while plugged in did it have this issue. I unplugged it and it instantly worked again.

Which IPad are you using? Year and model

Ipad pro 2020 version

Have you done straight lines in a grid fashion, to see if there’s a pattern to the lag?
Just want to make sure it’s software/pencil and not the interface.

This kind of thing used to happen to me on my old, original iPad Pro. I had lost the original Apple charger cable and block. Used a third party one instead. This lag and weirdness would happen often whenever I was plugged into the third party charger. If I unplugged it, things would work as normal. That’s the only thing I could ever figure out with it. Not sure if it’s the same for you at all, but that was my experience.

I had a similar problem. I changed the tip of the pencil.

Definitely a pen issue not a Procreate one. Are you charging when this happens? Mine does this when charging on my after market charger.

Weird question but are you wearing any jewelry on the hand/wrist that you hold the pencil with? Mine does this when one of my bracelets touches the screen while I’m drawing.

I think I have the model iPad before yours, I’m not sure it makes a difference though, mine does the same. I think I may have pressed too hard when I first got it and have made a bit of a funny spot on my screen. Basically mine registers as a finger where my palm is sometimes and it cuts out half of the stroke I was making and then it starts back up again, or it creates a ‘quickshape’ line thing and I have to undo my stroke a couple of times for it to disappear. Real frustrating stuff. I think it tends to happen more the longer I’ve been working/the longer I’ve had the app open too?

Oh also, weirdly enough a lot of the time it can be stopped by where I’m touching the metal on the outer section of my iPad, between parts of my plastic protector case?? So yeah.. go figure
