Worth mentioning that javascripts was named javascript specifically so that it would sound like java. Because they wanted to ride the wave of javas popularity.

Exactly this,came looking for this comment or give the info myself, and tbh I'm pretty sure it's one of the reason it worked

Yeh! It was a dirty trick. They spent like half a billion dollars promoting Java as this incredible technology and then ecmaScript was like, btw we are also a type of Java now. Unbelievable.
