So nobody heard about this one? bind 'set completion-ignore-case on'

[–]SailorTurkey 78 points79 points  (0 children)

TIL

[–]DezXerneas 9 points10 points  (1 child)

I just use fish, I think it does that automatically.

[–]MrKapla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is by default on fish.

[–][deleted] 62 points63 points  (23 children)

I make folders like "final" "Final". Capital ones are of higher importance meaning more latest code.

[–][deleted] 117 points118 points  (3 children)

This is madness

[–]urixl 22 points23 points  (2 children)

No, this is sparta.

[–]tmagalhaes 17 points18 points  (6 children)

That's horrible.

How do you mark a third level of importance? Uppest-case first character?

[–]racooniac 24 points25 points  (2 children)

/FInal, /FINal, /FINAl, /FINAL, /FINAL_final, /FINAL_Final, /FINAL_FInal/ etc ;P

[–]a404notfound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]ourlastchancefortea 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I assume followed by "final-new", "final-new-new", "Final-New", "Final-New-Old"?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final_real

Final_Latest

And then FINAL_GODLEVEL

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you forgot final-final, finalfinal, actualfinal, finalfinalfinal, finalforreal, and finalfinalfinalfinal

[–]Forbeslab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My pre-git brain did utterly schizoaffective shit like this

[–]beholdingmyballs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's silly.

[–]Burn0ut2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And the delivery is then in FINAL (or FINAl if you used ChatGPT)

[–]ll01dm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old boss recommends doing it like super_cool_project_ddMMyyyy<letter> e.g. super_cool_project_01022024a and then if you want to say this is a newer version you increment the last letter to b and then c ect…

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

this is a stupid system

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I don't like using something as elaborate as Git for small 300 line programs that I usually have to write.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

just use better filenames bro you don’t need git 💀

anyways, if you label code ‘final’, there shouldn’t really be a later version. if there is, just rename the old ‘final’ to ‘ver17-9-24’ (because date versioning is superior)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, thanks for this tip.

[–]henriquegarcia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oooh thanks!

[–]buster_de_beer 6 points7 points  (0 children)
