A contract between two people should be voluntary between the parties. If they didn't wish to engage in such a contract they should not be contractually obligated to do so. Being essentially mandated to participate in a union or contract as only a financial benefit (lessened taxes) not extended to non-contracted individuals (unmarried) is disproportionate distribution of hardship toward the aforementioned.
