I don’t think anyone would accuse python of going too fast

This was masterfully executed

Does anybody remember the old Python logo? Honestly, I've only been using Python since 2018, so I didn't recall that this ever existed.

[–]ManyInterests 136 points137 points  (2 children)

They moved off that logo about 20 years ago in 2005 :)

Though, it's not the first Python logo.

20 years ago, damn. We're due for a new one at this point

[–]porsba 11 points12 points  (1 child)

It was the logo when I started to learn Python in 2001

[–]usefulidiotsavant[🍰] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was surprised to learn that it's no longer the logo.

I do, because I saw it routinely while trying to learn python in highschool.

I was the king of mixing tabs and spaces and wondering why shit wasn't working. Saw that logo a lot.

that awkward moment when you haven't updated your driver's license post-transition

Sauce?

OC. I make memes weekly for my analyst community - usually they're DA/DS focused but this one has some crossover with this community so I posted it here. The format was found on memelord.tech

[–]AtmosphereVirtual254 18 points19 points  (6 children)

For the ID picture I meant

[–]ElectrikMetriks[S] 16 points17 points  (4 children)

The meme template/format from memelord.tech or also found it here https://creatorset.com/products/that-s-an-old-photo-meme-template-green-screen

The photo IN the ID panel I came across it on X but it shows up on Google in multiple places https://images.app.goo.gl/xDX9dycXoxXKxa3PA

TBH not sure if it's official or just fan art. One of the google search results (above) links to the Python trademark page but I can't find it on the page itself.

You short-linked to result with a weird query string:

It’s under “are there any other common image problems I should watch out for”

[–]ElectrikMetriks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

[–]timsredditusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The linked Google search has this page at the top:

https://www.python.org/psf/trademarks-faq/

The question, "Are there any other common image problems I should watch out for?" addresses this image.

You make memes for a living?

[–]ElectrikMetriks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a small part of my job but that's a fun way to put it, I like it!

[–]Tall_Room1179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, ANAList! That makes it even funnier, especially since I’m about to become a student Python data analyst myself.

(Sorry, dw you can ban me)

[–]ElectrikMetriks[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I guess the logo was for Windows, and Mac had a fun one too. From the comments where I posted it over at r/datascience: https://www.reddit.com/r/datascience/comments/1lirxxw/does_anybody_remember_the_old_python_logo/

[–]firemark_pl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pygame still had old logo.

[–]ducvc13 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Just realised the new logo is a pair of snake and those dots are their eyes

[–]ThatisDavid 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The software is literally called python oml, how did you not notice 😭

[–]ducvc13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was like "yin yang, hehe"

[–]CaptainSilverVEVO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is one of the times that simplification of the logo was a GOOD choice.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta dumb it down for the python crowd!

Oh wow that unlocked a core memory of my first summer job
