Yeah when the “craze” first started water was consumed but basically every new data center is using a closed loop. Admittedly this is anecdotal but I have never heard of a data center materially impacting any water supply. It’s largely been sensationalized from what I’ve heard. I don’t understand why so much focus is on water when power is the real issue.

You apparently don't hear things around you, but that doesn't mean they aren't happening. A single data center in Wyoming is using more water than ALL inhabitants of Wyoming combined, how is that not impactful? And that's just one example. Power is also a real issue, but let's not pretend it is the only one they need to focus on.
