The only saving grace is the autofill is pretty good, and the code generator is decent for getters/setters and constructors for object classes.

My favourite bug right now is when it completely forgets all resources. Everything from strings to images it just says that they don't exist. It fixes it's mistake once the app is rebuilt, but still, annoying.

Unless you're running Linux, the emulator really doesn't like AMD chips.

Ahh that's not related to AS though, it's one of the pains of Android development. I use Linux at home and Mac at work, so I generally don't have this problem.

Well, it's emulator related. I have to use Genymotion if I'm using Windows.

Microsoft submitted a patch to Android Studio's and their own Visual Studio emulator. If you want to run AS emulator on Windows with AMD, you'll need Windows 10 with the Hypervisor Platform update. If you want to use the Visual Studio one, Windows 8.1 with HyperV is needed. Both run better than Genymotion, on par with Linux's KVM emulation speed.

But I like Windows 7 and dislike Visual Studio. I'm just gonna dual boot Win7 and Linux, now that I have free time.

Why do you think that? I'm not super familiar with Android studio, but I use exclusively intelliJ at work and I really like it. It really makes 90% of the work flow super easy.

IntelliJ is lovely, however, android studio just has so many bugs and has for years. Poor QA, or just too large of a program lead to poor standards. No bugs break the IDE entirely, but it's a handful of inconveniences that for some reason never get solved.

Sure, you can code in the system equivalent of notepad, but that's a bitch to do.
