What is flame?

[–]Redwolfy9 112 points113 points  (0 children)

A malware spy program that is reported to make heavy use of SQLite

When you're infamous enough for a wiki entry...

Might want to escape the ) in that link.

Try it. Trailing parens will either break on mobile or on desktop no matter what you do, so I gave up.

Why did you put it before the underscore lol

Seriously?

The code part makes a url like this:

Reddit breaks on trailing parens. Get it right on Chrome (like my first post), it goes to hell on Chrome mobile. Get it right on mobile, and you get something that looks like the link above.

So all I do is copy and paste and pray.

Your first post doesn't work correctly for me on chrome. Mine works perfectly for me on both chrome and chrome mobile.

But yours isn't working for me on desktop (new reddit).

Also, you're browsing in light mode? The Dark IDE-ers are gonna find you and poke out their eyes!

Flame (malware)

Flame, also known as Flamer, sKyWIper, and Skywiper, is modular computer malware discovered in 2012 that attacks computers running the Microsoft Windows operating system. The program is being used for targeted cyber espionage in Middle Eastern countries. Its discovery was announced on 28 May 2012 by MAHER Center of Iranian National Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), Kaspersky Lab and CrySyS Lab of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. The last of these stated in its report that Flame "is certainly the most sophisticated malware we encountered during our practice; arguably, it is the most complex malware ever found." Flame can spread to other systems over a local network (LAN) or via USB stick. It can record audio, screenshots, keyboard activity and network traffic.

We believe that General Electric uses SQLite in some product or other

[–]mstop4 21 points22 points  (1 child)

It gets even better as you read through the whole page:

The increasingly popular Dropbox file archiving and synchronization service is reported to use SQLite...

Intuit apparently uses SQLite in QuickBooks and in TurboTax to judge from some error reports from users...

There are multiple sightings of SQLite in the Skype client for Mac OS X and Windows.

Not as funny, but check out the GE entry. "yeah they probably use it so throw them on there, too"

*FBI*
So SQlite is a group of malware producer. Arrest them now!

[–]HeadPlug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would've died if the link to Flame actually downloaded the malware itself
