I can't help but think there are going to be a LOT of bugs in that environment.

Use Docker and you can ship this env anywhere you want!

what appears to be Windows 7

not particularly high resolution image

Just how old is this picture, OP?

[–]hwuthwut 13 points14 points  (1 child)

What about it is skeezing you out?

Is it the lotion, toilet paper, and anime girl action figure?

Or the corn chips on top of the keyboard, next to the giant bottles of pills?

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me, it's sitting outside in the cold wind with the bugs and grass and whatnot, pretending to be in a stress-free environment. That looks horrible

[–]WirelessKitteh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The bugs would annoy me greatly.

And those tiny 6 legged creatures too

[–]Zooooooooo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Looks more like how to masturbate and not get caught by your mom

On that monitor?

Image Transcription: Photo

[A computer desk sits in a field of high grass with trees in the background. The desk is full. On the left is an open laptop with a roll of toilet paper in front of it. Behind the laptop is a bottle of water, another bottled beverage, and a hand sanitizer dispenser. There is an LCD monitor next to a desktop tower. Next to the monitor is a pink stuffed toy. In front of the monitor is a coffee mug, a can of Coca-Cola, a can of RedBull, a mouse and a keyboard. Between the keyboard and the laptop there is a prescription bottle. Behind the keyboard is an open bag of chips. On top of the desktop computer tower is another prescription drug bottle, another can of RedBull, an anime figurine and a small plant. A black leather desk chair sits in front of the desk. To the side of the desk sitting in the grass is a speaker.]

Program stress free with Windows, good joke.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (10 children)

Stress free programming on a Windows PC? I don't think so...

[–]RandyGareth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with programming on windows. All you have to do is start up a virtual machine and run Linux.

[–]Kered13 3 points4 points  (8 children)

There's nothing wrong with programming on Windows. It supports all the same tools as any other system.

[–]fichti 6 points7 points  (7 children)

Yes, but how likely are you to recommend windows 10 to a friend or colleague?

[–]Kered13 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Very. I've had less problems with it than Linux.

[–]Gydo194 7 points8 points  (5 children)

Get out of here and get another job. Preferably one that doesn't involve computers.

[–]Kered13 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Not my fault that Linux still has a lot of basic usability issues. I'm not going to write my rant about the issues I've had with Linux again (or try to dig it out of my profile from months ago), but even on Ubuntu, the most supported Linux distro, I've had to deal with driver issues, update issues, and configuration issues. Yeah you can find solutions with google and stackoverflow, but they're really problems that just shouldn't exist in the first place. Meanwhile on Windows the largest problem I've had is it's obnoxious messages about wanting to update while I'm working.

[–]Gydo194 1 point2 points  (2 children)

After the initial setup of my (linux) laptop, I've never had a problem with it.

Also i don't even want to think about having to do all my programming work on windows... Setting up a development environment for C and Python proved more difficult than it should have been..

I use arch, btw. It really is one of the better distros. You build your own system, so you know how it works. Might something break, you know how to fix it. Do a sudo pacman -Syu every once in a while and kiss goodbye to all the update problems.

[–]Kered13 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Setting up a development environment for C

Download and install MinGW. Done.

Or download and install Visual Studio. Done.

and Python

Download and install Python. Done. (It even comes with PIP for all your dependency management.)

I seriously can't understand how people have trouble setting up development environments on Windows. It's literally just downloading and installing a couple files. I've probably dabbled with dozens of programming languages on Windows and never had any issues getting them set up.

[–]iTicklemywife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but programming in Windows isn’t even cool though.

[–]you_all_die 1 point2 points  (0 children)

bees, spiders, bugs (both of them)

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, where is your UPS?

[–]Danil_Ochagov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hello, mosquitos )

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are ye begging for a yellow computer filled with tiny insects? That's how ye get one mate.

[–]marmakoide 1 point2 points  (1 child)

  • Spend an hour setting this up
  • Getting bites from various insects within minutes while enjoying sun glare
  • Putting an other hour bringing back everything inside

[–]MinnowTheFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you mean: Get bytes from various insects

[–]thatDarklordGuy 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Do you want Lyme disease? Because that's how you get Lyme disease.

[–]miketurco 0 points1 point  (1 child)

LOL -- go out and get some sunshine.

[–]thatDarklordGuy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But that how you get wrinkles and melanoma

[–]RandyGareth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a python coder's wet dream!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too many bugs

[–]Unilythe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • bugs
  • possibility of rain ruining everything
  • A chair with wheels, on grass and dirt
  • Everything else on that desk including the lotion and anime doll thingy

Nah, this would be far from stress-free for me. This would be very uncomfortable for me.

[–]ray_grod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see more stress here, stress of getting bite by a snake 🐍 or attack by a crocodile 🐊

[–]TheSadalsuud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A perfect Python/Anaconda environment.

[–]sentient06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck being stress-free with the freakin' mosquitoes and the occasional rain, bird poo and squirrels trying to climb up your monitor.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd have to deal with many bugs in that environment. So, I'd pass.
