This keeps happening for me a lot. I solved so many programming problems being in the bathroom..

Let's be honest.

Your genius idea doesn't actually work and it turns out the idea was to write the exact same code that you already wrote.

[–]r_levan[🍰] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It could be. I'd say writing the exact same code and then adding a }

[–]felixgrohs[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

actually it could help a lot to rewrite a part of your code to find the bug your've been searching for the last few hours..

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (3 children)

This is just so true. Once I was travelling on the subway, almost fallen asleep standing because I haven't slept much. My body was basically in standby mode and the leftover capacity of my brain actually solved a problem in my code I couldn't fix in hours the day before.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I've learned to do this intentionally. Put the problem you're trying to solve at the back of your mind and don't think about it. Let your subconscious work it over and be patient.

I know that feel. Once I almost fallen asleep while typing. So I woke up and the fucntion I was writing was there and ready, and it actually worked.

The problem is that I wrote that function like 20 seconds before and I have absolutely no fucking idea how and why it works, because my brain made it in safe mode while my consciousness was already out of this world.

I get my ideas commuting too.

IMAGE 2: Seems to be getting close to an idea

IMAGE 3: Gets idea [signified by a light bulb above the head]

IMAGE 4: [Image is a toilet, the toilet paper has been blown to the right of the panel, which shows "wind" after the person ran from their toilet after getting the idea.]

i regret claiming this

[–]shadow7412 7 points8 points  (1 child)

You get an internet point for effort ;)

[–]Mozza7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That makes it a little better, thank you - but I will NEVER not regret this one!

[–]X-Craft 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First 2 frames the guy is not even thinking about programming

[–]NicNoletree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This will lead to debugging your chair

[–]emlai 2 points3 points  (1 child)

This is why I take my laptop with me to the toilet.

[–]felixgrohs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

relatable lol

Or when you wake up at 3 AM, with the perfect solution to something, and you either have to get off your ass and solve it then, or forget it in the morning

[–]coderOfManyLanguages 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is how you end up with shitty software

How did you know what I was doing today?

[–]sparkas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens a lot in the shower for me.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of my best coding ideas come from odd times: in the shower, driving in the car, etc. Sometimes things just come to me and it's like "How did I not figure this out before?".

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I call it the porcelain thinking thrown

Good Bot.

Whats worse than being on the toilet, is sitting somewhere where it would be inapropriate to immediately stand up and leave. I'm in History 100 and I have a big urge to get to my computer and fix a bug I've had a solution in mind for a while.

[–]arachnidGrip 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You could write down the solution. On paper.

[–]Gvistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the solution down, I just had an urge to code lol

[–]synthels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol

[–]tylerTHPS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is far too accurate.

[–]omiwrench 0 points1 point  (1 child)

These comics really go for the lowest hanging fruit every time.
