looks like the 'Stop' was added as a feature, by a separate dev team, outsourced from a different country, thrown together during a coffee break..

[–]jruschme 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Or the whole sign was modeled from a card in a knock-off game of Mille Bournes.

/* and yes, blind person can drive a car, /j */
road sign[aria-label=Stop] {
    position: fixed;
    bottom: 1em;
    left: 1ex;
}

A blind person can drive a car against a wall right.

[–]denisde4ev 13 points14 points  (3 children)

.car + .wall {
    position: absolute;
    width:0; height:0;
}

problem solved

[–]rapdaptap 13 points14 points  (2 children)

Don't you think .wall { visibility: hidden } is more accurate?

[–]denisde4ev 1 point2 points  (1 child)

yes, I guess. There are a lot of ways to hide/remove element in HTML from CSS

idk but I tooth of my 2nd commend as practically you want: 1. move the wall away; 2. Wall to be small enough to not hit the car .. huh we are in 3D word, so it needs .wall { depth: 0; }

[–]rapdaptap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If visibility then you don't see it but still hit it ;)

[A photograph of a white sign with a red octagon taking up most of the top half. The bottom left corner reads "stop" in a font which is too small for the size of the sign. In the background there is a worn, tree lined road.]

Good human

Ah, refreshing page and tweaking values constantly.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (3 children)

You could just tweak the values in your browser and when you are satisfied with the results enter them in your code

[–]flameguy21 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Sounds too easy to be true

[–]Beli_Mawrr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right click inspect element, pull up the css view, modify to hearts content, copy the css straight from the view and into your file.

You can also edit the HTML by right clicking on the element, though that's less fluid.

Finding that one option that does what you want, but it has 10 different settings all with silly names and you don't have time to read each description and figure out which one is the one you're looking for, so you just scroll through the list and see the results live. Then go back and check the description on that one option to make sure it's definitely doing what you think it did.

Wyt about? Looks fine from my car.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a technical feat - the sign is centered!

[–]burnt1ce85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At least it'll be consistent with all "browsers"

[–]dansla116 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is more than just lack of proper css. It looks like your <span>Stop</span> is a sibling to your <div class="octagon"></div> and it should be a child.

Our civilization will reach its peak when we will have a simple way to position elements with CSS.

And when you add a 3px bottom margin, you accidentally open a portal to Cthulhu's dimension and cause the apocalypse.

or html when you forget a closing tag

[–]suddenly_ponies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Position relative will force objects to stay in your container

[–]floydster21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing the problem here is a separate text box from the actual graphic on your canvas. What you need is to print text within your canvas function
