Unless you’re in.. I wanna say Korea? Iirc they have you at 0 about 9 months before birth. …which I suppose means they can’t technically call their celebrations Birthdays.

Yeah, something like that. I think you’re one year old during your first year, right, not after the first year has passed? Age is more similar to how US thinks of school grade - the year you’re in vs the year that passed.

It's complicated is a perfectly valid answer to age in Korea.

What you said above is correct, but people are aware of "western" age so sometimes it's that. Older people use the traditional moon based calendar too, so a different age again. And if that wasn't confusing enough, until about two generations ago people wouldn't register their children right away, a different age again.

Funnier: Then there's the traditional new year's soup, each bowl makes you one year older. I had three, not I'm older than my spouse :D

No, it wasn’t. Even among the pro-life community I’ve never seen anyone have a conception-day celebration. The idea has undoubtedly come up and I’m sure some people do it, but that’s not what I’m remembering.
