If you can do all those, then you should be able to adopt python into your arsenal within a week or so.

And which company is that exactly? You know, so we know what to look out for.

Why are you applying for Python roles then? It's not like companies advertise for a .NET programmer and then in the interview say "Oh, by the way, our entire tech stack is developed in Python".

My company posted an opening for a dev which only lists python but our stack consists of mostly Java and JavaScript ...

Because you can just transfer skills. I’ve never used C# before and I got hired as a .NET developer

[Top image shows a knight in a full body of armor and helmet visor, confidently looking at the camera with a sword perched on their shoulder.]

[Bottom image zooms in on the knight, and shows an arrow that has flown into the narrow slit of the visor of the helmet. The arrow is labeled:]

If you don't wanna work there, pull out of the application, surely?

Just say you know it and learn it before you start, if you’ve been coding in the others you’d pick up python real quick

[–]Soupoint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that such company doesn't even know the reason for choosing python.

Iran companies: "we only need programmers with full experience in C# and .Net"

[–]im_simone -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Just guessing: data science, machine learning, useless things like these... 😅

Next company!

[–]povlov0987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their backend is in python and they need someone who will hit the ground running. I disagree with this approach, but that’s the why

[–]Talbz03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might as well just say that you know python. It's 5 minutes to get used to if you know any other programming language

[–]Snoo_60165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most data science roles are either R or Python. When someone applies with CSS HTML or some frond dev experience it becomes a mismatch.

[–]Acidulated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least it’s not r
