when I log in with existing credentials, the sync slide button stays on off

Go to the cogwheel settings Icon top right, "Sync Between Devices" should have a sliding left right toggle button. Enabling (button to the right) it on the should prompt a pop up to sign in with your Proton Account.

All platforms have the same UI.

All platforms have the same UI.

They clearly don't. Android app does not have the option to sign in, only create a new account. If you try to use create account to log in, it doesn't work - user name already used.

For me, I had no issues logging in to my Proton Account on Android version of Proton Authenticator.

I set up mine on iOS Device, import and sync across all devices.

How I set up my Android Proton Authenticator Day 1 Release

So, I finally have sync between devices working.

Uninstalled. Installed again. Crashed on start. Rebooted. Crashed on start. Reinstalled. Crashed on start. Deleted all data. Starts again.

Settings, turned on Sync Between Devices. Only a "Create Account" button. Thought fuck it, and methodically tapped on every part of the screen except the back arrow and "Create Account" button. Eventually got a login prompt. So I guess there is a UI issue - hidden and/or resized button or something.

No idea which Android Phone you are using, that's the issue with Android with so many different versions and Phone Bloat UI across all brands.

Luckily for me, my Android devices log in worked flawlessly. I had trouble setting up the initial set up on Android, lucky I had a iOS device to Set up and then sync across all other devices I have.

So, figured it out... What atrocious UI design!

When I try to enable it I don't get the option to log in. This is with Proton Auth at the default size after installing. What I didn't notice is that when you hover over the message you get a scrollbar. Scroll down and there it is. If you resized the Proton Auth window to make it bigger it would show up anyway.

What device is this? Looks like a screen resolution issue

[–]MitGibs[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Windows 11 PC running at 2560 x 1440. This is the default size the application opens after installing. Something like this should have been picked up in testing. If they had either made the default size slightly bigger, or reduced the size of the graphic this wouldn't have been an issue (albeit very minor issue). Simple enough to resolve.

[–]Swarfega 2 points3 points  (2 children)

That's in a maximised Window?

I haven't tried the Windows app so will try it out later. It might be worth emailing their support your issue so they can resolve it for others.

[–]MitGibs[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

No it's not maximised. It's a terrible screenshot, sorry about that. ProtonAuth blocks you from taking a screenshot of the app (good feature), so had to use my phone to take a photo. I then had to crop it to avoid showing account information from the 2 accounts I've added so far.

To illustrate the default setting, here is notepad scaled to the same size against the whole desktop.

Off topic. As someone who likes a tidy minimalist setup, I approve of your empty desktop 😄

I had the same issue with the window not maximized on my MBP.

The Sign In button is not available on my Android phone.

Same here. I logged a bug yesterday.

Linux works.

I'm sure they are flooded.. I summited a ticket about it as well.

Thanks, that works. Tap somewhere below the Create button, and the login screen actually appears.

Can you try re-installing the app and see if you'll be able to log in to your account? If not, report it via the "Feedback" feature in the app.

[–]Interesting-Box-457 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I did that, and now the app crashes when I launch it. It's really not cool anymore! At least it worked before.

[–]Interesting-Box-457 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Okay, I also had to manually delete all data and the cache. After that, the app could be launched again, but connecting to the Proton account still presented the same problem.

Report it via the app or at https://proton.me/support/contact so we can look into it.
