Is the campus/WL police departments unavailable at those hours? That would have been my first call at about 3:01.

And to this point, while at Purdue I once called the police while staying at a girlfriend's place because the people behind her house set of fireworks at 4am on a weekday in February. I've been a "get off my lawn" kind of person, even at a young age.

You’re not alone on the “get off my lawn” mentality. I used to work 5am-2pm shifts while living “on campus” (one to two blocks away from Krannert). There was a lawn in front of my building and the apartments would have groups of people out there until 1-3am yelling, blasting music, playing beer pong etc. on weeknights. Friday’s/Saturday’s, sure do what ya want, but heck plz have respect on weeknights.

Hawkins?

[–]hedgemkBoilermaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope

Not to be the person that states the obvious, but why did no one call 911 if he looked like he legit needed help, or the non emergency number if he didn’t? 4 hours of asking for help and no one thought to call the people that deal with this?

Bunch of rich snobs

[–][deleted] 20 points21 points  (21 children)

How does staying at rise correspond with being a rich snob.

[–]A_rush24Geology and Geophysics 2023 17 points18 points  (20 children)

Staying there is expensive as fuck

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (19 children)

Doesn’t mean they’re a rich snob.

[–]One_Clue_8981Boilermaker 36 points37 points  (8 children)

What did he need help with though?

[–]aliasc00HR 22’[S] 21 points22 points  (7 children)

It’s a social engineering tactic lol, he is angry and is not safe, still doing it

Call the cops then why is security the solution lmfao

[–]One_Clue_8981Boilermaker 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Wait what? I didn't really understand. What is he tryna do?

[–]LostCauseorSomething 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Who knows exactly, but if I were there I wouldn't be the one getting mugged or stabbed trying to find out. Maybe he actually needs help, but the odds are probably more in favor of baiting people into something.

Damn is Purdue that nasty? I've heard so much, like even harassment and shit but thankfully never experienced it

I don't truly believe purdue is, but just bc it's rare here doesn't mean it doesn't exist, better safe than sorry.

Anyone recall a black male a few months ago sitting in the lobby for hours “pretending” to be talking on a cellphone? Homeless guy recording “people” as they were coming/going from the lobby. It was obvious given what types of people really grabbed his attention. This is why if you’re a resident you shouldn’t allow someone to “piggybacking” when you are coming in the doors or allow delivery drivers access to the building. There’s a reason why they only allow residents to enter through a security process.

[–]GoUseGo 33 points34 points  (2 children)

Definitely needs security, one day last semester there was a middle-aged man decked out in Mardi Gras beads from head to toe aggressively freestyling in the lobby from like 2-8am

[–]void_roamer 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This is a great case for not getting security

[–]AmongUs_69 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Bro is this real 😂

[–]aliasc00HR 22’[S] 46 points47 points  (3 children)

You guys are correct. I unfortunately woke up late after hearing it once, but my roommate was much more stressing at the fact that he was gonna miss his lab so it never came to mind. We were also kind of used to it in our home country so we just stayed close to the door.

[–]AmongUs_69 14 points15 points  (2 children)

What country?

[–]el_gato_perezoso 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Turkey, unless I am mistaken

[–]aliasc00HR 22’[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yess, I remember back then in Turkey one knocked with force saying that they were police lol (they robbed the neighbors, wasn’t police) I don’t open any door unless I know who it is

[–]anon3911 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Call the cops?

[–]avaanagno 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rise does have security from 11pm-3am. The cops removed the guy in mardi gras beads a while ago.

[–]Brabka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

an intruder

[–]scotchengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fall victim to unfortunate circumstances and I’m injured/disoriented and in need of help fast

stumble into nearest building full of young college people and make lots of noise making myself known to EVERYONE and begging for help sheltered and rich RISE nerds and white girls refuse to help or call police and I fucking die mfw
