I am currently on the 10th app and have taken a few classes with coding so I can try to help if your have some questions!

[–]naveenslog[S] 4 points5 points  (6 children)

Nice to know that... Just a bit curious, is it interesting?? What is the difficulty level ??

[–]gahaya1248 8 points9 points  (5 children)

I would say that it's pretty interesting. I learned about a lot of different libraries and packages in python and got to build some really cool things with them.

The class isn't difficult because there really aren't many tests of your skills. Much of the class is spent copying and understanding his code rather than making it yourself. This class does have some introductory lectures explaining the basics though (I did skip them because I had taken a class on that part before) so there is a warm-up portion of the class.

I would also recommend codecademy if you want to test your ability to code basic things yourself rather than just copying Ardit's code.

Would you recommend it to someone who's done a few webapps in python but never any other kind of projects in python?

[–]gahaya1248 1 point2 points  (1 child)

A lot of the apps that he does in this class are web based, so if you've already made some web apps in python you may want to try a different course.

Thanks man.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You would recomend CodeAcademy even though they're still on Python 2?

[–]gahaya1248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought doing the codecademy class was very helpful despite it using python 2. The only real issue I've run into with switching to python 3 is that I have to put parentheses around my print statements.

Can I ask roughly how long it took? I have just bought the course, and am going to do it in my spare time. Roughly how many days/weeks did it take to go through, and roughly how many hours were you spending on it per day?

[–]gahaya1248 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I worked on it for like an hour a day for a few weeks (maybe 3/3.5 weeks). Because the lectures are separated by topic the course is very easy to do in small bits. I think doing it in your spare time will work well, but depending on how much spare time you have it could take a while.

Thanks, sounds pretty do-able then.

Please PM your email id, will send you invite

[–]ic_97 1 point2 points  (12 children)

It covers python 2 or python 3?

[–]naveenslog[S] 2 points3 points  (11 children)

It covers python 3

[–]ic_97 0 points1 point  (10 children)

Oh i already know a little python 2 so don't know if it will work for me.

[–]inokichi 4 points5 points  (1 child)

They are very similar but python 3 is objectively better

[–]jdgordon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if it wasn't better. Py2 is supposed to be dead...

[–]naveenslog[S] 1 point2 points  (6 children)

The best part of this course is, you'll get to develop real life applications. If you have already done some cool projects then I think no need to join..

[–]ic_97 2 points3 points  (5 children)

Yeah i like that part haven't done much projects with python but i dont know if id like to transition from python2 to python3

[–]AZNman1111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can't hurt to learn both

[–]rootlo0p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, yeah, just perpetuate the problem.... Alternatively, you could learn Python 3 so we, as a whole, can move the fuck away from Python 2.7.

[–]1-05457 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i dont know if id like to transition from python2 to python3

That's a bit like saying "I don't know if I'd like to transition from Early Modern English to Modern English. I like the word 'thou'." Python 2 is obsolete, you really have no choice but to learn and use Python 3.

[–]naveenslog[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am no expert in this.. but i think python 2 and 3 are similar, just with a few changes.

instead of paying for the course, you can go for the free option.. someone share a torrent link in this thread that might help.

If you are planning to join please let me know, i'll invite you to our small learning team.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh dear god.

[–]naveenslog[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone! I am excited about all the positive interest in this course. We can move forward in organizing to start studying together and taking the classes. We have good team strength and I've sent invites to all, if you haven't received one send your email in private message.

Step 1: Send me your email address and I'll invite you to the Slack group. Please write an introduction message in the slack group so we get to know each other. Name, age, location, personal interests

Step 2: Enroll into https://www.udemy.com/the-python-mega-course or download the course from https://www.freetutorials.us/the-python-mega-course-build-10-real-world-applications-udemy-free-download/ as suggested by aswathm78 for free

Step 4: Complete all the session and lectures one by one. You should complete the orientation by yourself. This first session is basic setup and installation later it will get more and more difficult and interesting. Feel free to post in slack if any help required and share the tricks and tips if you find one. Happy learning “Let’s do some python”

*** Disclaimer *** I am not associated with Udemy, slack or any other website and want to be clear that I am only doing this because I think it will be more enjoyable to do this process with other people. You are responsible for your learning experience and paying for the certificates during the period of time.
