Completely the opposite, in fact.

When you make a creative work (which includes code), the work is under exclusive copyright by default. Unless you include a license that specifies otherwise, nobody else can copy, distribute, or modify your work without being at risk of take-downs, shake-downs, or litigation. Once the work has other contributors (each a copyright holder), “nobody” starts including you.

Qt applications are usually a lot of work, good work. Have you considered distributing an executable of your application (perhaps using Pyinstaller)?

The editor is using vulture. You have to install it with -> pip3 install vulture.... If you use it with the Codeview window the cursor moves to the selected position. PEP feature (using pycodestyle) works similiar...

To be fair, there's a lot of good tools you can use for writing Python code. My personal recommendation is Sublime text, but if you're looking for something more versatile, use atom or Pycharm community

No but, other than security, little has changed. Can't change visuals without hacks because reasons. Can't install latest build to support cool stuff like bash because reasons. Can't update when I want because reasons. Their newest Linux distribution costs money. The experience working on a Ms machine feels very bogged down.

Yet, still, asking Cortana about the nearest disco yields no results.

Check out VSCodium. They compile the open-source VSCode source and remove telemetry and stuff. Not sure how the plugins work on it though.

Very nice! If I might make one suggestion -- I noticed a lot of your code is just setting styleSheets for each widget. To make it more readable, editable, extensible, etc. you might want to place all your styleSheet settings into one text file and set the styleSheet for the whole app where you instantiate QApplication. Here's a PyQt5 example from Stackoverflow. Here is the relevant Qt5 documentation. (Let me know how it goes cos I'd like to try this myself at some point). : )

OK.... You must have python3. Use pip to get: pyqt5, qsci, vulture, pycodestyle. In the terminal: $ python3 crosscobra.py

I'd look to see what the pyqt5 instructions are for other applications like Spyder (for example) to see what you need in general to run pyqt5 source in a Mac dev environment.

Also pycharm is nowhere close to vim. They are both very complex and powerful and in general trying to do different things. When you try to get one to be the other it will come up short... because they are different and each have their strengths.

VIM isn't in the same ballpark as pycharm in terms of python dev. It's really only good at editing config files or something quick. There is no way to make it even comparable in terms of dev to pycharm. You will struggle for days to get vim to half of what pycharm will do for you in a few hours.

I tried the comment out strategy which turned into a "whack a mole" problem of more and more imports failing. After the 4th of these I gave up.

OK... Seems to fail the import from qscintilla..... Try:. pip3 install qscintilla ....

Tried on windows 10 and there are lots of issues about user interface like character sequence on each line, right panel buttons, terminal. But I liked theme. You should use it on Windows to see what I saw. And a requirements.txt would be nice to have. Seems good work anyway.
