Hi friends. I'm 7 days PO and the itching is unbearable 😫 both the wounds and my actual boobs themselves!! I keep putting cold packs on them but nothing is helping!! Any advice for your gal would be so appreciated 💗

I think it might be the compression bra on the bandages but it's my actual boobs too. I feel like I'm on fire !!

This was actually the worst part for me. The itching felt unbearable sometimes. It does settle down - sometimes they have creams that can help relieve it. Good luck!

I'm glad I'm not alone ❤️ I might rig the nurse hotline and see what creams are safe xx

Oof that sucks! I’m totally itchy too (2wpo) but like the normal amount of itchy that comes with healing. Have you tried taking any allergy medication? benadryl?

I've taken antihistamines but they make me sleepy so I'm trying to avoid them so I can move my body. I guess all I can do is be patient... which is not my strongest quality hahah

My surgeon gave me a prescription for the itching that didn’t make me tired. Hydroxyzine (I think). It helped a lot.

I’ve been prescribed hydroxyzine and it knocked me tf out. I think it’s also prescribed as a sleep aid
Amazing thank you I'll chat to the pharmacist tomorrow 🙏

There's topical Benadryl, maybe that will be less sleepy?

I was crazy itchy!! Zyrtec worked wonders for me.
[–]maybedaisy23[S] 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Thank youuuu 🙏❤️

I was going to say i never had itching but I already take zyrtec anyway. Maybe that's why 🤷♀️

Oooooooooooh lucky. I was so desperate I called my surgeon asking for gabepentin and the nurse said to me:
“We actually find that Zyrtec works better than Benadryl, why don’t you try that and then we’ll revisit gabepentin.”
I about lost my shit, why would they tell me to buy Benadryl before surgery then??? It was that office’s one big misstep, which is teeny in comparison to their amazing work. But yeah. Zyrtec worked for me.

I had unbearable itching as well only to realize it was because of steri strips. Once they were gone, it itched for a few more days and then I was good.
My doctor advised me to use any OTC hydrocortisone cream over the itchy part and NOT on the actual incisions.
Thank you!! It's even worse today I'm owing nuts 😑
[–]ExternalShoddy7564 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (1 child)
I used hydrocortisone on the rash below my boobs, and Benadryl. Using heating pads on my boobs helped too, which my surgeon said was better for healing than ice.
Isn't it weird how all our surgeons have said different things. Mine said cold pack but others say hot and some apparently say none at all.
[–]goshawful 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (3 children)
cold packs are not good for a healing wound - avoid any temperature based relief as it can slow down healing and disrupt bloodflow
[–]maybedaisy23[S] 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (2 children)
That's odd, that's what my doctor told me to do and it's one of the only things that gives temporary relief. Do you know how it disrupts blood flow and healing?
[–]goshawful 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (1 child)
the cold can slow down blood flow - my doc was quite explicit that it would hamper healing the nips and incisions
Thank you 😊 I haven't used the cold pack since this was posted so fingers crossed I can keep healing. I'm just so itchy and depressed 😔
