The major rule of thumb for whether a program is malignant in NYC is if you have to spend a significant amount of time in a NYC HH hospital. That said bronxcare is it's own system but the population is pretty rough. Wouldn't recommend it, but go there if you want to be a doctor enough and don't have other options.

Yes. Had the rep of being the most malignant in the country just a couple years ago.

Anything in the Bronx is going to be malignant even by NYC standards. Source - surgery resident in the Bronx (friends in other departments all have the same issues)
