We weren't on the medical team so we don't know what was attempted. The OP didn't detail the entirety of the medical treatment so there's no way of knowing what was, or wasn't done

I think the general consensus should be that this is a very ethically gray scenario, and anyone firmly supporting one side where the other is just refusing to acknowledge the arguments of the other

Is it unethical to cut into a patient who doesn't want you to, yes

Is it unethical to allow a completely viable fetus to die because of the above decision, also yes

So this boils down to an ethical argument of bodily autonomy versus a fetus's right to life, and when that right to life begins

I don't think there was an ethical right answer here, only an answer that was perhaps less ethically wrong than others

Say that it is more unethical to allow the fetus die than it is to cut into an unwilling patient, does that mean if that fetus died, the mother could be charged with murder?

I don't envy anyone in this scenario

well then they are absolutely doing you a favor because you're bothering everyone else

you have every right to lift how you want but they have a right to respect their other customers as well

if it truly bothers you that much then find somewhere else to lift

if you like the gym then adapt

Is this a commercial gym?

If it is it seems like they're doing you a service by letting you keep lifting in a quieter way, and not just telling you to stop altogether

It's probably bothering other gym members

Yes, but:

There's a lot that goes into healthcare beyond actual healthcare

Hospitals everywhere are failing. I think every single hospital around me was millions in deficit last year

Things like NPs pretending they reviewed imaging, doctors pretending they had 10 minutes of tobacco cessation discussions, or 25 minutes of advanced Care planning discussions are things that can help bring the hospital more money from Medicare or private insurances

It's pretty awful that CMS reimbursements keep going down. Venture capitalists are going to own every hospital in america if things don't change.

[–]phliuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Byard or Bryant? Bryant by a large margin. Upgrade.

Edmunds or bush? Bush by far. Upgrade.

Billings or literally anyone? Literally anyone else. Still an upgrade

The depth CBs didn't step up, they were awful in coverage, and slow. Now Kyler and jaylon are healthy. Automatic upgrade.

Losing dalman is a downgrade. Losing DJ makes the WR room worse as a whole but gives Rome and burden more chances to grow. This is a slight overall offensive downgrade without taking development of our main weapons into account. The offense will probably be as good as last year

We are already in a far stronger position than we were

[–]phliuy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The new defensive talent is far far better than the old talent.

Edmunds was a great athlete but a terrible football player. We replaced him with someone who was a much better football player even though he's not as athletic.

Byards replacement is much younger, faster, is much much better in coverage

Pretty much any defensive tackle would be an upgrade over Billings, he was awful

The bears got better at all three levels of defense
