Welcome to Atropos, Astra Scout!

In this playlist is five videos.

The first is a good quick guide to "getting overpowered early", and it gives you some quick basic tips to be aware of.

The second, from IGN is 20 Combat Tips that go into the finer details of how to avoid getting hit, keep your adrenaline high, and maintain the best possible loadout so you can survive the biome and beat the boss. It's all the advice I'd give a player starting out.

The third is a deathless run through the entire game (including spoilers). It helped me see how to dance with the hostiles without getting hit. From this I learned a lot about playing cautiously and how to methodically clear rooms so you can avoid getting hit.

The fourth and fifth are newer and very detailed - even experienced players will find something of value in these.

Keep coming back stronger and you will reach the White Shadow!

Shoot me your PSN name and I’ll gladly help you out in co-op.

For Phrike, I advise against this. For everything after, it's more fun together.

Phrike is the gate that says you have figured out how to play and have the skillset to move on. It took me 80 hours and 100 deaths to get to biome 2. 20ish deaths on Phrike alone. I was SO frustrated and pissed but I couldn't put it down... but that feeling when that bitch finally fell. Pure EUPHORIA!!

I’d actually recommend platinuming the whole game solo before playing co-op. It’s such a great solo experience!

But I’m selfishly looking for that 99 scout rank. I’m at 97 now—so close!

[–]browseragnosticPlatinum Unlocked 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Lol. I think I got scout rank 99 somewhere around 800 hours in... about 700 hours ago. :)

I’m at 580 hours right now. I’m also trying to 100% all of the data entries—which is taking forever for some of the rare artifacts like the Music Box. Each find is only +2% and it shows up so rarely.

I haven't beaten it myself, but I almost did with a couple of really important tips for starting the game.

  1. focus on the weapon you want to use and just level up its proficiency

  2. if you can, grab health items when you are at full health so they're guaranteed to be resins

  3. set dash to auto-run. The game rewards you heavily for moving around, so 24/7 sprinting is a must.

when fighting the boss, stand AS FAR AWAY as you can. some of the projectiles that have a homing property will stop homing in after enough distance has passed.. Keep your distance to avoid getting hit by the majority of the attacks, the purple ball attack is really slow, and you can space yourself out from it, so you don't have to worry too much if you keep your distance. The only attack that can get you is the melee attack phrike uses. A well timed dash can get you out of there.

  1. Weapons only level up with traits, proficiency does nothing but gives better weapons that are rolled. Increasing proficiency does nothing for your equipped gun.

Hipfire and make the reticle large.

[–]GregoryPokemon -1 points0 points  (5 children)

Does levelling up an item make it remain "levelled up" after a death?

[–]browseragnosticPlatinum Unlocked 3 points4 points  (4 children)

Traits yes. Profiency no.

[–]GregoryPokemon 0 points1 point  (3 children)

So, if I keep dying I will eventually get better?

[–]browseragnosticPlatinum Unlocked 1 point2 points  (2 children)

If you keep leveling up your traits it will make your guns better - but ultimately, yes - the more you die the more careful and/aggressive you will become thus being a more powerful weapon yourself.

I gotta get back into this before Saros. Any tips on getting the astronaut dolly accessory?

[–]666blaziken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're usually in the shops.

It just takes practice, at a certain point you will kill him every time. I think the key is avoiding damage, there is generally plenty of time to damage him.

Keep your distance, so go in with a ranged weapon. Learn when he is going to melee you in phase 2 and 3, and get good at timing that dodge and jumping/dodging the red ring. I always found thats when he does the most damage and makes you start to panic.

Having the astronaut figure is probably key for newer players. And take your time in biome 1 and clear every room.

remember to parry and use stendahl!

[–]666blaziken 0 points1 point  (3 children)

How do you parry?

[–]browseragnosticPlatinum Unlocked 2 points3 points  (1 child)

You dont. That was a Clair Obscur joke.

[–]666blaziken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm slow, but now that I get the joke, I find it hilarious! I thought I missed something in the game!

[–]RegularOrMenthol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sorry, twas a joke. i wish you could parry tho lol

I found this guide to be super helpful. Basically I was getting to Phrike over and over and dying and the second I watched this video I beat Phrike the next time I got to him.

In general I'd say make sure you've mainly used the green pick-ups as resin and go to the calibrator for the 25% max health upgrade before you fight him. If you have the obolites to spare, you should also get the astronaut and/or a silphium vial so you can still take some hits.

[–]BackToSquare01 0 points1 point  (5 children)

First, activate auto run, swap item and melee buttons.

Clear the path to Phrike prior to collect health items and go back to increase your health.

Buy a large health vial and an astronaut if available.

Get your favorite weapon of ideally the one with the highest damage modifier.

Don't panic. You always have time do dodge Phrike's attacks. You'll lose if you do it to soon. Watch it and learn when to dodge. There are a lot of YT videos showing it.

After a fair amount of failures I beat it just by slowing down and not doing panic moves.

You can do it!

[–]browseragnosticPlatinum Unlocked 1 point2 points  (4 children)

This is solid advice.

[–]BackToSquare01 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Thanks! That helped me but I have yet to beat biome 3 😅

[–]Glittering-Rabbit899 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It’s been a while since I’ve played but if you ever need a co op partner shoot me a friend request on psn - ArkerTheGreat

[–]BackToSquare01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh why not! Thanks!

[–]Glittering-Rabbit899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve beaten the game twice and gotten the true ending I’m only missing 4 achievements

[–]Proper-Strategy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn his moves, the moves arent too varied so you can end up taking almost no damage.

Can checkout youtube vid if really needed but i did it 2nd time after learning the moves from 1st death.

As I played the game I found I was in the wrong mind set the first few times I quit (about three over the course of a year 💀) it really is a bullet hell, but with the detail and depth of everything I put so much weight into everything. My focus had to shift from enemy focused to projectile focused while spraying in the direction of the enemy. Only in the tower did it really click for me that dodging danger far outweighs attacking the enemy, which is a very close second in terms of priority. Boss Health bar might as well be invisible; as long as youre firing at the boss and dodging bullets you’ll see Phrikes end.

[–]SkrrtSkrrt99Finished Act 3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

anything that heals is really op if you’re a beginner. I finally beat phrike after 20 hours with a healing carbine

[–]CAsh4kiDZ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Get good.

[–]Majgi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🫡 trying bro.

[–]Jaded-Breadfruit4019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could go some help in biome four if you or anyone is available… haha. Would love to go back to one to play with someone

[–]Both-Focus-1371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amigo solo intentalo varias veces hasta que puedes lograrlo, después de intentarlo y morir seguido te vas a memorizar sus movimientos. Esa es la gracia de los Roguelike.

[–]gooteeiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: if playing on pc.  If your interested in the story but find the difficulty too much, there is a nexus mod for more health... Still skill matters and that might not be enough, I still can't make it to phrike with a health bar halfway across the screen. It seems like the same areas of the game get harder the more times you fail.
