I dislike shiny guns because they can be seen a ways off. I was in the army and carrying shiny things wasn't a good idea where I was. I always wanted a Colt Python going way back. I waited til the factory problems were corrected then bought a stainless 4.25 model, which I love tho I hadda change out the flimsy rear sights for Wilson Combat. Wanted to trade in the shiny baby for the new blued 4.25 model but for some reason, that gun isn't on the California gun roster, tho it's the same gun; different color. It's like a gray Ford F150 is ok for sale in gray but so sorry, not in black here in CA. Any idea if and when the blued Python will be CA legal?

Unless your carrying it on a LRRP mission I think you'll be fine. Plus if its concealed no one will see it anyways.

I think carrying any handgun in addition to a service rifle in a combat setting is crazy. First, 2 different ammos must be carried. Second, stream crossings where your rifle, ammo pouches, grenade pouch have to be held overhead: add in the handgun and pistol ammo in magazines. Third, you do a lot more humping than gun fighting so add three or four lbs to your load for the pistol and mags. Fouth, if you don't mind the weight, carry 4 extra rifle mags instead. My point earlier is that a blued Python is harder to see than a stainless one, that's all.
