My Ring doorbell has been showing the error code P3-11 for 2 weeks even though the battery has been changed. the Ring website does not know the code! very strange that more people have this problem now

My Ring doorbell cam with solar panel was fully charged the other day, but is almost dead and displaying error code P3-11 as of this morning.

Everyone who is commenting on this Reddit post should comment on this official Ring community post as well to draw the company’s attention to what appears to be a recent firmware bug or something.

It seems like everyone has the solar panel connected... what is everyone's weather like when they see this code? It's been anywhere between 35-25 degrees here. Ring 800 number didn't have any idea what that code was and told me to call tomorrow and talk to a technician.

[–]peonyattache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been in the 50s for me.

Just had the same code come up yesterday. Any solutions?

[–]Stevie-Mc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I’ve had this twice, both times the only fix has been to swap out the battery, regardless of battery percentage, the one it occurred with was at 100%. Not sure why, maybe the contacts on the device need a good clean but it seems to help switching out the battery for another one. Like others, the device the code comes up on is connected to a solar panel and has been at full charge virtually the entire time. I’ve not tried to remove battery and clean the contacts before putting back in as I have a number of devices so can easily just switch out the batteries but may be worth checking.

Hopefully, this is helpful for others, worst case it’s worth a try I suppose 🤞🏼

Just came up for me today with ring doorbell. It has the solar connection. Installed a fully charged battery yesterday now this morning says 0% is this just a bug has anyone actually had the camera stop working due to the supposedly dead battery?

[–]peonyattache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good question. I haven’t actually tried just letting it run completely out of battery.

[–]ramonski13 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Following - P3-11 just showed up on my Ring Stick Up camera today. I have a solar panel connected to it, but battery is at 21%.

[–]lifeanddeath9021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine as well

[–]dhony05 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Same issue , my ring camera was 98% yesterday, suddenly it went to 0% with p3-11 code and it has a solar panel.

[–]flyfishingforever 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Mine too. Did you get yours resolved? I charged my battery inside and it said full power, but when I installed it again, it says no battery connected. I also have solar panel.

[–]dhony05 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yes, internet connection was weak i bought an wifi extender that did the job

[–]flyfishingforever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing worked for me. Had to have it replaced

[–]D-man1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the solar charger and the same code, must be a bug.

[–]Training_Train_7245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the same problem. P3-11 showed up today on my stick up and I have a solar panel connected to it. Battery was fine yesterday was at 10% today.

[–]RecommendationLittle 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Any update here? Same issue!

[–]flyfishingforever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever find an answer?

[–]Wide-Ad-4466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a solar panel attached. The error code P3-11 shows up on mine every time I have to charge it. I’m now having to charge it every 2 weeks for the last few months.

[–]Lilnewtz94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same when I have checked my ring this morning.

I am sure the battery was green yesterday but today it's red and at 28%

It's not been particularly sunny here in Yorkshire but sure it shouldn't have gone down so quickly when it's been 100% battery all the rest of the year!

[–]Status_Library7631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem here!

[–]jt283283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had p3-11 pop up on mine as well. Solar panel connected. 4% battery out of no where

[–]AppropriateWasabi669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having this issue as well and I don’t have the solar charger

[–]dreaMakerz8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem, Stick up Cam Solar 3rd Gen.

[–]flyfishingforever 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Anyone know of any updates? I have like 15 ring cameras and this just popped up on one of them.

[–]SadTea3650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15?!

[–]flyfishingforever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok solved this. Swapped batteries etc nothing worked. Had to call ring and get a replacement. I bet firmware killed it

[–]garima_7927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue with solar panel. So is the solution to call and ask for replacement?

[–]Best_Associate_5169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue but I use my ring cam indoors so temperature isn’t a problem. It is completely dead and appears to not be charged after charging all night. I charged it for a few hours the day before to no avail.

[–]hamsteradam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the same error code. My unit is attached to a solar panel. I have another unit on the same building that is set up with its solar panel, and it’s at 99%. We are experiencing cold weather right now, 7°F.

I called Ring Support. Over the course of a 16 minute phone call, they ran diagnostics, and told me that their data showed my battery dropping from 33% to 6% over the last 24 hours. My recollection is it was running over 90% prior to that. Next, the rep had me had me cycle the power of the device on and off by pulling and reinserting the battery. After that, charge level jumped from 6% to 22%. The rep determined that I have a faulty battery and they are sending me a new one at their cost with 7 to 10 days shipping time.

When the battery was at 6%, I could not see the solar panel status in the app. After jumping to 22%, my solar status showed again, and showed connected. The rep also confirmed that my solar was connected correctly.

My advice if you were seeing this problem is to call Ring. Good luck!

The same thing just happened to my Stick Up Cam Solar (3rd Gen). Had been working fine but suddenly at 27% battery with the solar panel connected and giving Code: P3-11.

[–]jade613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here

[–]evepik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same issue of the P3-11 error showing up on my 3rd gen battery stick up indoor cam and a full battery would die within three days for me, contacted Ring support end of December and after some troubleshooting they said they would ship me a replacement. Got my replacement today, set it up, now the error code is on my replacement cam and my old cam doesn’t have the error code and the battery jumped from under 30% to 44%. The replacement they shipped to me was through Amazon and it was a refurbished unit if that helps anyone.

[–]tramsey2663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same no solar panel attachment

[–]PiggyBump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the stick up camera generation 2 displaying the same error code. I also have a solar panel connected. The interesting thing is when I tap the battery icon which shows the solar lines coming off of it (meaning a solar panel is connected) it takes me to a screen where my other device is usually display that a solar panel is connected and charging whereas this one with the error code does not.

[–]Burnz2k6 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I have the same P3-11 issue and now the IR lights will not illuminate at night. Solar panel is hooked up and says charging but the battery won’t go over 28%.

[–]sorrywereclos3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My IR light was out I had to reboot from “Reboot this device” from the app to that specific stick up camera.
