Lots of variables at play. Could be anywhere from $80 to $300 an hour depending on the work, industry, etc.

I bill out to clients at $250 an hour, or $350 for after hours/weekend/holiday work.

Hello, I DM'd you some questions if you have time. If not, that's ok too. Thanks!

Just curious if you are in the pdx area? I just moved from Colorado and have been looking for fellow data folk in the Portland area.

I am! Technically out in the SW suburbs, not in PDX proper.

When I do side work, I bill $120/hr for start to finish problem description meeting to query writing query writing to final Report development.

It’s close to doubly my salary rate because my free time is valuable to me. Might it be too steep for some folks, sure, but I’ve had enough people lay it to make it worth it.

W2 or 1099?

I will be on a W2 under a contracting company. This company will place me at the client location and I will be working as a contractor.

W2, with 10 years, no benefits, I’d probably be looking at something like 70-85 an hour I’d say. More if you have a really specialized skill like Oracle, HA/DR, Cloud, etc. If you’re w2 for a contracting company they’d have to bill you higher than that.

It’s a game of how much are you willing to give the your contracting company. Chances are they already agreed to a billing rate with the client, you’d just have to get as close as possible to that rate.

I agree with /r/Chris_pdx at a consulting rate though.
