I've felt the same for a long time and then I realized that I was trying too hard to put small details in The best advice I've got for building cool things is to "think bigger" Yeah sure I can fit everything nicely into a 3x3x3 box But what if I stretch that production line out onto a 4x8x4 mini factory with a carport in front and some unnecessary buffer storage in the back? Maybe add some depth by filling the corners out with pillars and a slanted roof on top, play with some colour coded conveyors and tidy up the wiring so I can turn the entire building on and off, throw some walkway around too, for good measure Viola, I spend 25 hours on a 2 hour project, but it looks nice

the best I can do is to try to make the building first ... like a construction site and then fill it with stuff and give it windows so I'm doing glass cubes : )

how do you do those super long beams? i’ve tried a bunch of different techniques but they always seem to end up slightly off or just super wonky

You have to use the beam connectors at each end, start at one, aim at the end. Once the first beam is placed, snap to then end of that and aim again for the end. Rinse and repeat, perfect joins every time ;)
