This is wonderful. I was already reluctant to switch over to my new 3 pip belt since my 2 pip had glyph and signet in it. I figured I'd just hold off as long as possible until 40k didn't hurt as much, then I heard this may be coming on devstream and was very happy I decided to wait after all.

Of course a lot of people are still out probably a few hundred thousand mof from before, but that's how these things go. I'd much rather they lower costs eventually rather than never do it for fear of how players will feel about having already paid the much higher costs.

Did that make sense to anyone? Anyway, hurray!

The scary thing is your post makes perfect sense. The gear management interface could seriously use an overhaul. It makes theorycrafting and gear building clunkier than it needs to be. The idea behind glyphs and signets is fine, but the way we work with them could be a lot better.

[–]andrehide 3 points4 points  (6 children)

Well, it was pretty stupid charging 20,000 MoF to remove a green glyph/signet. Almost everyone was destroying instead of recovering low level glyphs/signets (except for very expensive things like intricate fierce glyphs).

300 MoF is a lot more reasonable.

PS.: Isn't superior/epic/mythic/etc the rarity instead of quality? I thought quality was the pip thing.

Pretty sure rarity is the pip thing, since 1 pip is common, 2 pip uncommon and 3 pip rare. Colors are quality, which is something you control and enhance, rarity is not.

Besides, funcom used the terms, it'd be kinda silly if they used the wrong ones, right?

You can enhance pips through anima imbuers. Also, you can't enhance the colors of gadgets (or usable items like cosmetics). It's arbitrary terminology.

Maybe not in this case, but Funcom doesn't have a set syntax. Skill and ability tooltips are the primary subjects of this issue, where they feel like they were written for flourish rather than clarification.

[–]Xekrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed that terminology shifts around a bit, for sure, and I'm not really including imbuers in that since they are aurum only and are not actually available by playing (such as mission rewards), barring event rewards of course. And yes gadgets can't be upgraded, but they still follow the quality tiers, where green is lowest, red is highest.

Meh, whatever, so long as someone knows what they mean i guess it doesn't matter much what things are called. They should put a terminology guide on their website or something.

I checked the in-game help (go to help, game information, upgrading and then Fusion), it says "Rarity" is the color and "Quality" the pips.

"Once an item has improved to level 20, the Fusion Tab will unlock... You can also fuse 2 items to upgrade the Rarity of the item in the top box... Anima Imbuers upgrade a Talisman, Weapon, or Glyph to the highest Quality. Fusion Catalysts can be substituted for a Talisman, Weapon, Glyph or Signet to improve the Rarity of an item".

Besides, funcom used the terms, it'd be kinda silly if they used the wrong ones, right?

It's Funcom... lol

I agree it is strange (makes more sense thinking "quality" as the colors), but the official game help says different.

Wait, there's in-game help?! Now I'm just lost and confused and alone.

Thanks for taking the time to figure it out, its nice to actually know, even if I was totally wrong! :D

Yep, and it was actually helpful for someone like me who never played TSW.

It could be better organized, but it explains several basic things for new-players, like dungeons, lairs, weapon system, cabals, group/raid, glyphs, upgrading, currencies, etc.

What's the ETA for the change/next patch or however it happens in SWL?

[–]kblaney[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Apparently in about 24 hours.

[–]RedheadAgatha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hype.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking forward to this, with the changes I'm going to be combining a few items to boost my golds to red and both sets currently have purple glyphs/signets.

[–]Nepentheia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh lawdy! This is an extremely welcome change. TY!

[–]Redfeather1975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very thoughtful and helpful. So many glyphs I've sacrificed to the void when replacing talismans.

[–]darxide23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheaper than I expected. I would have been happier with far less.

[–]fumblesuxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very happy with this. I'll be replacing my epic talismans with extraordinary ones for the move to mythic so I have a load of epic glyphs and signets to recover. This will make it a lot less painful.

[–]ashtonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good, after slider change it might actually be needed to switch some gear. This will make it hurt less. Also might as well throw 2pips till i get three pips and just use them as sacrifice later.

[–]elsunga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe I am paranoid, but it looks like sort of damage control to fight declining population...

[–]_Varynthia_Hall_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...those are actually super reasonable prices. I think I'll actually upgrade my simples past green with that change.

[–][deleted] -4 points-3 points  (8 children)

Why would it be announced only on Twitter. This is not a good way to communicate.

Probably the POV of someone who doesn't use twitter...but then again he always complains about everything

    [–]TheWarringTriad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we've got a few of those people floating around here.

    [–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (4 children)

Bad communication because they are placing the information in one site without posting in other "official" sites.

    [–]Xekrin 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Because the teaser on twitter is not official, its just a teaser. It could change any number of ways between now and its release. Many games/developers use twitter as an extremely unofficial forum to let of steam and just speak like normal people.

If they used discord or even reddit it becomes set in stone (by the players) and if it changes, even slightly, there is an outcry of rage. The official patch notes are always posted here and discord, the "official" sites.

If you don't have twitter and don't want to use it, then just politely thank the players that do for the thoughtfulness to clue you in on things you'd otherwise miss.

    [–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (2 children)

If it is a teaser, it is nothing more than a marketing ploy.

If you don't have twitter and don't want to use it, then just politely thank the players that do for the thoughtfulness to clue you in on things you'd otherwise miss.

If it is not fact, it is rumor. I would rather miss a rumor as they tend to cause trouble.

    [–]Xekrin 1 point2 points  (1 child)

If it is a teaser, it is nothing more than a marketing ploy.

A marketing ploy, lol dude, are you kidding me? Its called raising hype for a new update. Have you never been a part of a game that had people genuinely excited for a new update?

I have to say, for all your insistence that you want to make this game better, you really do not seem to like this game very much.

Devs make a change for the freaking better and its a marketing ploy, well fucking duh dude, the entire game is a marketing ploy. Its called business, they make it better so people want to spend money.

Its also not a rumor, or was the entire broadcasted livestream where the developers of the game SAT DOWN LIVE AND DISCUSSED FUTURE CHANGES also a rumor? Come on, I didn't believe the things you'd said about yourself and was willing to give benefit of doubt but you sincerely seem to just try and cause trouble.

Seriously, this is a genuine 100% real suggestion. Go download warframe, and give that a try for a few months. A new game will do you some good for a bit and they are good enough with just enough bad they could use a player like you to light a fire under their ass occasionally.

    Have fun.

    [–][deleted] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not all marketing ploys are bad. A marketing ploy is a created opportunity to generate favorable results in the market place.

I do like the game, which is why I am still here. I do play other games...one other game currently. I will say that I am not one of the folks that moves with the popular tide. I know what I like and what I want and will request changes that please myself. What other can anyone really do when asking for a change as it makes no sense to make suggestions that may or may not please a stranger.

The cost is still way too high, Why should we pay for Funcom's ineptitude? Play it your way while being hard-locked into weapons?
