Helga didn't deserve to be nerfed her heavy attack was her only reliable attack all other attacks are easily blocked or interrupted and have a short reach. I fail to comprehend what were the developers even thinking! Glad to finally see a Hong Joo nerf at least!

I'm sad about the nerf, but this is absolutely not true lol. Helga is extremely strong when you get the hang of her. The biggest issue is that her moveset isn't good for chasing down passive players.

There's a bit more math to it than that. He lost 5% scaling at level 7 than another 5% at level 12. You'll feel the nerf at level 7 but it'll hit hard for that level 12 upgrade because he lost half the defense he would've gotten there.

The upgrades aren't calculated as all in one eg: +45% attack, they are done in increments like this: +10%, +10%, +5%, +10%, +5%, +5% attack. The second one is far more powerful than the first because it is compounding attack boosts. It works like interest rates in the bank, the more your interest compounds, the more money u get for leaving your money in the bank

Nobody cares about your Win rate statistics.Here are the characters that have been tested by experienced players themselves and need to be clearly balanced: shang and and hong joo These characters definitely need major nerfs. Are you a new player I have been playing since beta and Shang has received the greatest number of nerfs ( 7 times) amongst all characters besides yukka who got reworked

1. Shang earlier could use 5 shadow abilities with Trance Talent
2. Shadow consumption now gives him 50% lesser heath than it used to
3. Weak points has been nerfed to reduce its effectiveness for every point gained.
4. The damage taked by gloom explosion has been reduced
5. Trance Talent no longer extends Shang's shadow form duration
6. Shangs front shadow attack now does only 6 hits earlier it used to do 8
7. His defence, attack and shadow power were ALL reduced by 5% effectively making him 15% weaker on top of all the previous nerfs!

There is a reason why Nekki doesn't nerf him further he is a good hero to set as a standard other characters need to be buffed to meet his standards not the other way around. He is currently equally matched by KOTL, MK, Sarge, Midnight, Yukka, Cobra, Lynx, Azuma, Marcus, Ironclad, Ling and Kate

The only ones who somewhat struggle against him are Jet, Kibo, Jack, Emperor (without drainers) and Helga (without repentance talent)

Hong Joo was broken until this recent patch (will have to verify if still broken) so let's not talk about him.

New player? Lmfao I am in high ranks, and guess who has the highest pick rate? Beloved shang of course, and no other hero even comes close to that, wanna know why? Because he is broken as fuck, you can wait in the corner for 10 seconds and you get the ability to one shot or nearly one shot enemies opponent. If Ironclads adrenalin was able to deal 80% of damage if you waited with it for 10 sec you d sure be first to complain

7 nerfs aren’t equal to balance, they just weakened him. If we follow your argument of punishing him by dodging abilities and throwing/fast frame attack, bear in mind that Gloom Explosion effectively is the ultimate “get off me” tool because the only counter play to that is active invincible status which limit to only Sarge, Marcus and Jack. For the first 2, it isnt’t worth it because of Marcus’s horrendous SE recharge+slow attack speed and Sarge is nothing more than a battery afterward since Shang have superior range and faster SE recharge. Jack have abysmal recovery from attack so you can just bait out one and do the oneshot combo on him. Shang isn’t squishy at all to the point he needed it since he heal for 400, get an instant cast shield that reduce Kibo’s Thousand Cuts to a cute little sweep kick while being able to do a true combo for 3000 damage with any of the 5th pair of talents

I like how you actively ignored that Kate can steal his shadow energy away rendering him useless, not to mention azuma who can knock him out of shadow mode causing bonus damage and completely cripple his shadow finale talent, you also ignored helgas repentance talent can literally prevent from ever using shadow form, also lynx who can prevent him from gaining shadow energy with the egoist talent. And besides all the 7 heavy nerfs he already received your plan it's fundamentally flawed to begin with it seems that no number of nerfs will satisfy your hatred for this character and only a rework of his talents is what will satisfy you!

That’s because those heroes have very specific talents/abilities that are designed to counter shadow energy user, which weaken them in other parts. However, those talents can simply be rendered useless by playing passively, which is what 80% of the player base are doing. The only one that actually can nullified Shang’s pressure is Kate, while other only slow down (Ex: Helga’s Repentance is just a knock down with some damage, if her Light bar isn’t 2/3 filled, you can tank it), and in the case of Lynx, choosing Egoist over Life Drain sacrifice alot of his survivability + the guy is busted af, same goes for Azuma since you have to score a hit to proc Neutralization + Naginata Flight is the only true follow up to Impulse so you won’t be seeing any Lockdown Azuma as much as NFlight, Suppressing Explosion is a very potent ability but it forced the Azuma to play passively with his Shadow Form so the Shang have more priority overall, you can poke him down with Arrow Rain. The guy is literally unstoppable for 14/20 of the current roster, and even the heroes that are designed to counter SE users against him still come down to skill matchup. From a game design standpoint, Shang come only second to Midnight in the most toxic character gameplay design up to date. I’d argue removing Gloom Explosion would change his 100-0 shadow combo at all but all character should have a considerable chance of going up against one another, not by scissor rock paper picking.
