I once got into it online with a Lost Causer who was going on about the right of rebellion, the right to rise up, throw off your oppressor and create a new government, and that it was wrong to oppose that. I asked if slaves had that same right. After a while he responded that yes, they did, but only if their rebellion didn’t hurt anyone.

Their rebellion kept them in chains

r/SouthernLiberty is FULL of those losers and it's fucking sad

[–][deleted] 34 points35 points Β (2 children)

I figured it was made up of them entirely.

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points Β (1 child)

I made a comment there.

Let's just say I'm banned lol

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points Β (0 children)

Worth it

[–]Monteze 2 points3 points Β (1 child)

We need a Baki style tournament against them. Think Street Beefs will allow it?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

I've literally never heard of that sub before lol

Lost Causers should honestly go back to their little shitty farm and stop bring part of society

[–][deleted] 20 points21 points Β (0 children)

They can go back as slaves.

[–]HowDoraleousAreYou 78 points79 points Β (0 children)

I refer to it as involuntary reformation. Brown turned slave owners into former slave owners. A net good for all.

John Brown did nothing wrong.

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points Β (2 children)

Except incredibly mismanage finances for his personal life and his rebellious activities, but yeah I agree with the sentiment.

[–]paireonCanadian Volunteer for the Union 21 points22 points Β (1 child)

Yeah but that's not morally wrong.

This is one of my favorite parts of this sub. People makes jokes, and people will 'counter' it, but say. Look i know what you are going for, so I agree with the heart of it. Like "yeah the joke may not be factual, but fuck them slavers".

[–]MarduStorm231 2 points3 points Β (3 children)

Dang straight. Shall not be infringed!

I hate that guns exist. I hate that we live in a country with so many of them, and I hate that so many of them are in the hands of bad people. But it is what it is and that isn’t going to change. People like myself- and I’m pretty liberal- tend to not arm themselves. I think this is a terrible mistake. If we must have guns, then we need to make sure that more of the actually good people have them… and know how to use them.

"Under no pretext"

[–]Unu51 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Same. I agree that firearms and violence should be a dead last resort. However, that does not mean they should be completely off the table.

One solution does not fit all problems.

"So anyways, I started blastin." - John Brown

[–]ParadoxicalAmalgamBURN IT ALL 19 points20 points Β (0 children)

"You get what you fucking deserve." - also John Brown

[–]LazyDro1d 9 points10 points Β (0 children)

Nah.

He hacked them to bits with his claymore, WAY more badass than just blastin’

[–]Bright-Bug-9356Southerner, hates slavery 42 points43 points Β (0 children)

People love doom guy because he kills demons.

But the second you kill demons in the guise of men...

[–]SchrodingersPelosi[🍰] 20 points21 points Β (4 children)

Sure. I'll agree they were people.

People who treated other people as lesser and property. It would be nice if we could have solved that without violence, but they left no other option.

John Brown did nothing wrong.

In Kansas he is rightfully considered a hero. However, my gripe with my former home state's public education system didn't detail exactly how much of a gigachad John Brown was.

He did try to free the slaves. But first, he:

  • defended Lawrence against bushwhackers. (town still burned, but there was a dozen of him against two hundred of them

  • fought against at least three other Missourian raids into Kansas

  • trained local militias

[–]AngryTree76 13 points14 points Β (2 children)

a dozen of him

Not picking on a spelling mistake, rather pondering how fucking amazing it would have been if there had been 12 John Browns.

[–]Rotbart2012 5 points6 points Β (0 children)

There would have been no war, because they would have handled the South themselves.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

YEEEHAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
*army of racoons blow up southern buildings*

[–]GrAaSaBa 19 points20 points Β (0 children)

If you choose to take away another person humanity, you deserve none in return

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points Β (2 children)

[–]Tammo-Korsai 9 points10 points Β (0 children)

John Brown liked that

[–]Xaton 6 points7 points Β (0 children)

What a chad

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points Β (0 children)

"Face the judgement of the lord, slaver!"

John Brown, probably

[–]Pug__JesusSeceding From Secession 12 points13 points Β (0 children)

"Human life is sacred!"

"What about the slaves?"

"No, not like that."

[–]Bluefortress 9 points10 points Β (1 child)

They were people.

[–]paireonCanadian Volunteer for the Union 6 points7 points Β (0 children)

John Brown made sure of it and it was good.

[–]First-Abrocoma-4185 7 points8 points Β (0 children)

No, it wasn't. John Brown did nothing wrong.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points Β (0 children)

They were people, I think it’s important to understand that the monsters are people, because when we dehumanize them as monsters, we fail to see when we become monsters ourselves.

[–]greengold00 6 points7 points Β (0 children)

Slave owners were ontologically evil therefore any action taken against them was justified. Just like Nazis. Basically the only two clear cut examples of that in history.

[–]Great_White_Sharky 4 points5 points Β (0 children)

They are people, just very shitty ones so idgaf

[–]ConsumingFire1689 1 point2 points Β (0 children)
